The weagles haven't won in melb this year and have been up and down at home, they have won some by big margins but also just scrapped in against GCS, Port and 1 other I forget.

We will be too hard for them and whilst we need and have needed 1 more tall at the back all year, we pressure very well and the ball is picked off by our runners.

We are looking very well set if we win this and all the players/coaches/water boys know this.

We are the real deal and we will win by 5 goals!!!

Duigan to take Le Cras

Russel to take Nicoski

Minimalist approach I'd think. Setanta for Hampson. No-one really put their hand up for selection on Saturday.

If Ellard doesn't come up, ideally, I'd prefer Joseph, but think McLean will come in as the sub. Reckon Joseph has merit to come in to play on Kerr, niggle him at the stoppages and work him over.

The one change not just for team balance, but also I think for Henderson's development and in proving his capabilities to the side, at this point in time, depends on what he can show behind the ball in finding touch whilst Kreuzer and to a lesser extent, o'hAilpin can provide decent targets up front. Knowing Ratts, I assume that whether they go with Setanta or Warnock, will depend over a pouring over the stats and some footage to work out whether there is much of a divide between West Coast's performance at stoppages with Cox or Naitanui. My gut feeling suggests that Naitanui's ruck work isn't offering the same sort of rewards compared to what Cox does, and if so, the MC can feel a little easier about having Hendo or Setanta pinch hit.

Jamo takes Kennedy, Tuohy to Nicoski, Russell to LeCras, Thornton to Lynch, Hendo takes the resting ruck with perhaps the relief ruck work as well ahead of Setanta, Duigan takes Darling (if he plays). Makes it hard to justify the need (rather than long term want) for Bower, or Laidler to be rushed back in without merit of form.

Whether Waite resumes in the twos makes for some interesting food for thought. If he does, then Thornton is probably unlucky. 20% chance I'd think.

Amazing ... the article says Westcoast have moved within striking distance of the top 4 by beating Port by 22 points. How has this changed from last week? ... they were 4 points behind Hawthorn then ... as they are still. The article says they are on the Cusp. I'll give them cusp ... we will trounce them next week.

This article is ready made for the Heraldsun.

Imagine what the papers and radio are going to be like over here this week!

Monday paper is going to be a keeper after we smash them by 10 goals. Our forward line will have a field day on Sunday. Who have they got that can match up on Walker, Garlett, Betts, Kreuzer, Waite (if he plays) etc?

They have individuals more capable of causing damage than Sydney, but are more inexperienced, so could be easier to smash if things go badly for them.

If we keep doing what we have been doing with our intensity and playing the way we have been I would think a 45 point win.

They do have a tall forward line which could worry us if they get on top in the middle, but at the same time we could run them ragged out of defence.

I'd expect only forced changes with Hampson and Ellard out, Warnock has been ordinary in the ants last couple weeks while Brock had an outstanding game yesterday so I would expect ins to be Setanta and Brock. Warnock may get in if Setanta is still injured.

Carrazzo or Houlihan.

Will probably get shot for suggesting this...but what about Robinson to Hurn purely to annoy the shit out of him and chase and chase and chase. Yes Robbo's been tearing it up but maybe now is the right time to give him a spell from the heat in the middle - he's killing himself slowly at this rate. And Hurn is THAT important to the Eagles. All he needs is 15-20 possessions to be damaging, his right foot is that bloody good. Plus I can't get Robbo's effort against Fletcher towards end of last year out of my mind. Haven't seen as a convincing job ever from a defensive forward role i don't think. IMO Carrots and Houla wouldn't be as effective in this role.

Also, I think we can afford to bring in a tall i.e. Waite or Bower, without having to drop one in their place i.e. Henderson.
West Coast's tall forward set up is potent with Kennedy, Lynch, Darling and the rotating Cox/Natanui getting down there. That is some serious height. Surely we wouldn't want a Duigan or Russell having to take one of those Eagles.
Could this be the week to swing Waite to defense?

Darling isn't overly tall. Same height as Judd.

Can't help but think how fortunate we are to have Kruezer fit. I'd put 100 bucks on us drafting a young ruckman this year and telling Richmond to stick whatever they are offering for hammer up their date.

We are a better side by about 5 goals and should be too polished at home against these pansies.

Given that though, this is not a week to be tinkering with positions and matchups. I couldn't handle reading the west and listening to my mates if they won. Judd is still referred to as 'ex eagle' over here ffs!

SMASH THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eagles have really flattered to deceive this season. Like Fremantle, they are bullies in their back yard but can't handle the pressure of the big games. They have plenty of highlights players but lack the grafters who want to get their hands dirty. Yes, they have a bit of a height advantage but they will wilt in the face of our pressure & tackling.

Chalk it up folks!

If JK gets Jamo he won't get a kick anyway.
I wish him all the best.

I seriously doubt McLean will be recalled. A good game in the Ants means sweet FA when he can't keep pace in the big league. I heard Swanny and Sticks say last week that the pace of the blokes in the Ants left a lot to be desired. I also got the impression that Bower will struggle to find a regular spot in this team...... from what I heard.

We've got an opportunity to cement a top 3 spot and get a great group playing together in the lead up to finals. I'd be including Warnock and Wait for Henderson and Hammer.

I'd also think about bringing Setanta in if fit so Kreuzer can play mid-field/forward rather than a ruck/forward role. He's far too important to be risking at centre bounces and has too much to offer.

If we can get that mix right over the next month, we'll go along way to knocking off the Pies.

you cant afford to play setanta in the ruck v natanui and cox. warnock comes in regardless of how poor his last game for the ants was.

Setanta spoke in the Social Club room prior to yesterday's game and according to my Dad had his wrist in a cast/bandage. Dad said he had a fractured wrist which if that's the case he won't be available you'd think for at least another couple of weeks.

Seems by Rattens comments that Waite is doubtful and they won't take any chances with him.

I like Hendo in our forward line I think he straightens us up and he stood up in the 2nd half when we really needed him to.

In's: Warnock, Armfield
Out's: Hampson (knee), Ellard (Concussion)

They have looked very tired over the last few weeks..It normally happens to teams that have come from nowhere the year before.

If we bring the same intensity, we will smash them...

This will give us a good buffer to 5th, so we can start tinkering with our line-up and start resting some of our guns.
Although having the bye in R23 (absolute perfect week to have a bye), means we are in a much better postion than Pies, Hawks and Cats.. All these teams will have had long stretches of games played with no break.

Is Touhy injured? What with?

Hopefully Ellard is right.

When is Laidler available for selection?

I agree, Kreuze was blowing up by the final quarter yesterday and would be spent by half time if forced to go #1 ruck against those two. by the sounds of it from a post above Carlos is out for another couple anyway.

I wouldn't rush in to dropping Henderson. He didn't have a great game, but he still has a lot to offer. With Setanta still injured and waite not-quite-right, i'd say he's spot this week is safe............. JUST!

Warnock in is a given (Gulp) and i'd probably start Houlihan instead of using him as a sub. Ellard didn't look good at all.

Let's smash these Eagles and finalise a top 4 spot!!!!
