Really good team effort today.
Great to see Kreuzer back.
Good games by Murphy, Judd, Walker, Simpson, Robbo, Jamo, Ellard, Gibbs, Betts.
Loved Touhy's goal, and then the celebration.
Just read a report on the club website and it mentions an incident involving Robbo which may be looked at by the MRP. Anyone see it?

There were 2 incidents. The one with black should be ok as he didnt hit him in the head although a bit reckless. The other one could be more of an issue but it looked like he pulled up and the other bloke ran into him. You never know though.

Thanks, just saw it on the news. It didnt look too bad on TV but it is chook lotto so who knows.

Fox Sports. Check out Robbo around the 42 second mark. Crazy Bastard :smoking:

Very impressed with the crowd number today, 43k is really good for a Sunday against an interstate side. Next week should in theory get even more with it expected to be more of a contest and surely more South Melb supporters will turn up than Brisbane supporters today - there seemed to be hardly any there.

Biggest ever H&A crowd against Brisbane Lions, bigger than any H&A game against the Bears and the third biggest crowd ever if you include Fitzroy

Carlton Twitter said robbo reported for rough conduct in the 4th against black. What for? I was there and he was just throwing himself around like usual.

When Touhy kicked that goal I got a warm fuzzy sort of feeling run through my body that I've never felt before, like I knew I was watching this team on the brink of something special. Sounds a bit gay, but difficult to describe it.

I wasn't actually happy with the way we played - I think I just sniffed blood and thought we wasted far too much of the ball. Still a long way to go. We are at least a 10 goal better side than them and the result was par, not good. We'd lose to Sydney next week if we played at the same level.

On the flipside, we can play SO much better than today and I have no doubt we will against Sydney next week

A good enough win IMO, with a reasonably even performance across the team, lots of contributors and lots of positives. Murph was outstanding, gets the 3 for mine. Although Robbo is still a nut case for being hard at it, he does seem to have matured in recent weeks in terms of composure with the ball. Ellard, Touhy, Walker, Yarran, Gibbs, Judd, Simmo, Scotland, Duigan, Russell all good contributors. How good was Jamo? Betts was good but did a couple of dumb things trying to be too smart. Garlett was good. Love Hammer (being reasonably tall myself) and thought his game today was great - loved the mark. Thought Kreuze struggled a bit at first but worked his way into the game, his 1%ers were great. He will benefit from the run. Bit tough on Bower only having a 1/4.

We have improved immensely in terms of composure when in possession enabling us to keep possession, although there's still a bit of butchering the ball with short dinky kicks to a lead, almost as if we are a bit tentative and not kicking through the ball. Also don't like it when some of our forward entries go to an uncontested opposition mark, don't mind the bomb as long as it is constested. Some of our tackles didn't stick when they should have and today we seemed to get a lot of touch on the ball at ruck contests, but I reckon Brissy did a better job at ground level at being where the ball was going to be and consequently getting clearances. We must aim to do better.

Reckon Juddie needs a week off, he's shouldering too much.

Selectors are in a great position at present with plenty of pressure on everybody. Hasn't been that way since I can't remember. Hard to know where to fit others in.

The Lions were at their softest today; we looked a little casual at times; when we maintained the pressure, we were good; unlike the overuse of the semicolon.

With Henderson & Kruezer back it allows us to use Waite as he should be used. A mobile mid rotating between wing and in the centre. He can float back or forward when needed and if we have a key position injury he can cover that as well.

A tall mid who can mark and run will just add to an already good side. The addition of Touhy, Henderson, Kruezer with Laidler & Waite makes us a very balanced unit. For the first time in a long time we have very good players covering all positions. :smoking:

I think what we are now seeing is Carlton putting 22 players on the park who can either beat or break even with their direct opponent at every contest.

I mentioned that Zach was 1 of the missing pieces we really needed and I honestly believe that. He can beat his man and he can create with excellent running and even better execution. As much as I love the efforts of AJ and Army I think Zach has them both covered with his all around game. I doubt Zach will be out of this team much from here on in.

Hendo is the other 1 we have been waiting on. He will help free up Waite and if Walker gets the 3rd best defender then I will back him more times than not. Hammer stepping up just makes us look a real threat. Get Laidler back in and I think the rest will be between the ears regarding how far we go this year.

Regards Cazzesman

Yay!!

 I would love to claim it as my own but that would be cheating. I think you can put that 1 down to WH and SR with me waiting out the back for the cheapie handpass.

Now both Yaz and Robbo have their fitness heading in the right direction towards genuine AFL level they both look so much better. Yaz can run out games and Robbo can regain his wind quicker each time it gets knocked out of him

Take some credit cman, plenty willing to get stuck in at the time. Personally, Robbo's been that hard since day dot as an 18 year old.

You want a proper study done on concussion, better get in quick because Robbo'sgrey matter is turning to jelly quicker than we think.

does laidler even get back in the side?? i dont think so atm, keep him as a spare for the inevitable injuries... there must be a case for us having the best depth in the comp.

I personally would not use Waite like that. I would prefer to have a nimble and fitter onballer type in the midfield. The only advantage we would get using him like this is having a target when trying to get out of defence but we seem to have that covered with rucks.
We should try and get the forward line working with him in there or he, henda, walker and Kreuzer can fight it out for the positions in the forward line.

I see our run being our biggest asset and would not want to lose that just to squeeze someone into the team. Our balance of talls and running players that can rotate onball has been so imprtant to our teams success so far this season in my opinion.

Fella's im f'ing excited by what we're putting on so far this year...

The key word is now DEPTH...and we have it spades.

But just out of curiosity...let's say we had no C Judd playing against the Swans and the Eagles in the next 2 weeks, how would we feel about our chances in those games?

Personally, I don't think we're as Judd-reliant as we used to be and I almost want to see us play without him over the next 2 weeks as sacrilegious and perverted as that may sound.
