Why does Murphy go on these shows? Why do they have him on?

He's a very good footballer with nothing interesting to say, no inclination to try to say anything interesting, and is palpably uncomfortable in front of a camera.

BTW On The Couch is becoming irrelevant, and Roosy equivocates too much before making a point. It's all very predictable and dull.

Jackson comes across as an a grade tosser. Unfortunately he speaks pretty well so we'll probably see more of him in the future.

I was wanting him to talk about how maligned he is at Carlton and how he has learnt to cope with this criticism. Only Lloyd can ask such hard-hitting, som would say completely stupid, questions

Reminds me of the time we used to dish up Matthew Allan for that Sunday morning footy show. All the other players would be nicely dressed up in a suit or shirt and tie and he would roll up in his Carlton tracksuit and mumble his way through a few answers before sitting their mute for the rest of the show.

i don't really care - playing footy is what they are their for - but if they are going to appear on TV at least have some ability to talk in front of a camera.

Jamo would make a great guest on these shows. But he's a backman, so don't hold your breath.

I'm surprised Murph was so nervous. He's been on TV heaps more than other Carlton players.
Bad interview and equally bad answers.
Equally the time allocated for him was the shortest I've ever seen on this show.

Not surprised about the time factor.

Over the years I have e-mailed the Carlton hating producer of this show complaining about the lack of air time to Carlton.

As usual, nothing has changed.

They also spent too much time salvating over the filth beating the 12th team on the ladder

Nah, I didn't mind him. Didn't seem to have tickets on himself, was willing to have a go, wasn't a robot like most players. I reckon if he was a Carlton player, you'd love him.

I think with his contract still being negotiated, he wasn't confortable about it and nor should he be as nothing is signed.

I don't, nor would I, enjoy discussing money with people who have no business knowing.

Naive? Perhaps, but we aren't all built the same way and we don't all think the same way.

The Qs were stupid and Murphy's answers reflected that.

I used to think On The Couch was the best footy talk show on TV for its interviews. But it's really gone down hill. What once used to be insightful, in depth interviews featuring plenty of questions is now just an annoyance wedged in between blather.

They just don't seem to care about who they interview, or getting anything decent out of them. Where was the discussion on Carlton's view on the game, how they responded to Geelong during the game, what they've learned after it etc etc. Instead we get motherhood - Gee Mark Jamo's a good player isn't he? Umm... yes.

Wallsy cops a bit of stick, but maybe that's one of the downsides of him moving. At least he'd have a go at someone sitting in the chair if he didn't like the cut of their jib - eg Harvey.

Give me AFL 360 any day.

OWAAT handle their guests much better than On the Couch. They include them as part of the panel, ask them their thoughts on other clubs, players, etc rather than just giving them a routine 5 minute grilling.

Bottom line is Roos likes the sound of his own voice and doesn't shut up.

The other two blokes pander to him.

Was a good show, but now losing me.

I actually enjoyed Hird on there.

Why AFL 360 is good is that they interview people who are experts on the game - the same two every week, King and Maclure. And those two are confident, speak intelligently, know what they're talking about, and last but absolutely definitely not least, ARE NOT SCARED TO HAVE A GO!!! We may not always like what they say - King can be a little underwhelmed by Carlton sometimes - but you know they'll say it as they see it. Maclure's rant about Voss a few weeks ago was brilliant.

And who interviews them? Two guys that a lot of us haven't liked - Whately and Robbo. But they're awesome! Why? because they're like all of us - they just love footy and they don't pretend to be experts - they just give opinions like all of ours.

If you haven't seen it, do yourselves a favour. It puts the pretentious OTC and OWAAT and the annoying (and plagiaristic*) FC to shame.

* Why do I say plagiaristic? Well, watch all 3 Monday shows and you'll see the first two (OTC and OWAAT) completely copied in FC. And believe it or not, Thomas and Hutchy are the best two on that show (that's how bad it is!!)

Actually,
I thank God we don't have an arrogant tosser who is also a footy thug, at our club.
IMO out sellars Sellars for tickets on himself.
He doesn't give off a lot of 'humble..' but to his credit, doesn't try for fake humble either.
He was annoyingly good..ans have to agree with TBB..we'll see more of him.
Hopefully he'll go to The Footy Show or MTR.

Couldn't agree with you more Harry, 360 is by far the best footy show on TV, OTC has lost it big time, with all due respect to Roos, he prances around like he's the be all & end all of AFL....ok he won 1 flagas a coach in 25 years of football.....woopi do.

Kingy & Sellars are enteratining & pull no punches I also like the Whately & Robbo combo, they call it as they see it.

Mike Sheehan seems to think that the only 2 players worth watching are Cyrill & Buddy, personally I'm over his bias towards his favourites & have become a big fan of 360!!!!

Tune in guys, you'll get a pleasant surprise.

Yep.....I've never thought that Murph is comfortable in that type of setup....Before the Game is more his go and more laid back.....and with 3 Carlton supporters backing him up.........
