Stop Watson at the clearances, we win. Carrots may just earn a reprieve yet.

get henderson in there, he was really doing well late last year getting to the contest , just missed a few marks but his ground work is good, hampson is a waste of space up forward.

Henderson & Ellard are musts. Lucas should come in as well. Outs Walker, Laidler, Betts.

Waite needs to go back to CHB. More consistent there and helps a glaring weakness.

B: Russell. Jamison. Watson
HB: Yarran. Waite. Lucas
C: Simpson. Ellard. Scotland
HF: Robinson. Henderson. Collins
F: Garlett. Hampson. Thornton
Foll: Warnock. Judd. Murphy
Int: Gibbs. Carrazzo. Curnow Sub: Duigan

Ellard & Curnow give us real grunt.
Henderson is quality forward.
Time for Garlett to be the man.
Duigans turn to be sub

If ratts was serious in makings statement at this point he would drop Gibbs and carrazzo. Time to take a stand before we end up havinganother mediocre season.

Seriously, some people just have it in for Gibbs.

Anything less than decaptitation going for the ball or he'll never be good enough.

He's a gun, being asked to play a role that suits his skills down to the ground. Just get over yourselves FFS.

For me the team against Essendon* is a no brainer. We need speed and hardness to beat them. Plus we should put our best structured 22 on the field based on availabillity and fitness even if the form of some isn't perfect in the VFL (ie Henderson).

Russell Jamison Armfield
Laidler Bower Yarran
Lucas Gibbs Simpson
Garlett Henderson Scotland
Betts Waite Hampson

Foll: Warnock Judd Murphy
Int: Robinson Curnow Ellard
sub: Walker

In: Lucas, Henderson, Armfield, Bower, Ellard
Out: Carrazzo, Watson, Duigan, Thornton, Collins

Watson needs time in the VFL to gain confidence and develop and shouldnt be rushed in. He will be an excellent footballer but when we don't have to play him, lets not. He will be better than Laidler by the end of the year.

Carrazzo is probably in our best 22 but needs fitness (zero tackles last week is unacceptable). Send him back to the twos to dominate for a few weeks and then he can earn his spot back over curnow or ellard if they dont perform.

Duigan is too slow and lacks penetration in his kicking. He is a good back up flanker.

Thornton played well last week but for team balance he isn't the man. We need someone who can either break a pack, create a pack and/or stand his ground in marking contests to give our crumbers a spot to run to. We have too many leading forwards and not enough forwards that just make a contest at the dangerous spots on the ground for our crumbers to get to. As a smallforward its hard to be in the right spots if the marking forwards arent in the right spots themselves.

Collins isn't fast enough nor skillful enough to be getting a game before Lucas or Ellard.

Hampson and Walker are the tough ones. Hampson isnt playing well but you need a second ruckman (especiially against Essendon*) and we have to persist with Hampson if we are going to get a return on our investment. My view is to give him the entire season in the ones and see if he progresses regardless if he is holding his marks or missing his shots on goal. It's called development and the return (if we have the patience) can be enormous. He can be a super player once he gets his judgement right and the confidence to relax his body a little in the marking contest to move with the footy rather than battle against it (he is very tense when going for his marks). He is like a wicket keeper in cricket snatching at the ball instead of letting it come to him and moving with it.

Walker is playing weak footy at the moment, He needs to toughen up, take some hits and stop trying to take mark of the year and stand his ground more often in a marking contest and get front spot. He is playing selfish. I'd give him a few more weeks otherwise send him back to the twos and move on. I am a walker fan but am loosing my love very quickly.

Out: Walker Duigan Thornton Carrazzo
In: Henderson Ellard Bower Armfield

B. Laidler Jamison Watson
HB. Judd Bower Yarran
C. Simpson Gibbs Scotland
HF. Garlett Henderson Robinson
F. Betts Hampson Waite
R. Warnock Curnow Murphy
I. Russell Collins Armfield S. Ellard

Juddy to provide generalship and stability to a fragile defence and provide surety in going forward. He can also rotate with Gibbs into the midfield.

Ellard in to provide late support for Curnow/Robbo and Armfield in for a run with role (Jobe?)

Bower in to bolster defence and add attacking flair.

And a weak tackler to boot. I thought this might be due to his shoulder history, but as he takes the risk to land heavily after those marking attempts, I'm not so sure. Just a weak tackler.

I'm telling you now, there is NO CHANCE of Carrazzo being dropped. Ratten loves him too much.

I expect:

In: Bower, Henderson
Out: Duigan, Thornton

Would prefer Walker to make way instead of Thornton, and would like Betts to be given a wake up call, with Lucas or Armfield brought back, but fairly certain neither will occur. Armfield could be given a reprieve if they feel we're too tall down back, and replaces Collins I guess.

Jamo to Hurley, Bower to Crameri, Watson on the resting ruck, Russell on Monfries, Carrazzo to Monfries. I feel just as confident about this game as I did the Gold Coast game.

Surely Watson to Hurley/Bellchambers depending on the ruck situation. Watson on Ryder is a no contest if he's afforded some space on the counter.

Still too tall though. You can't play Laidler, Watson, Bower & Jamison. Ratten hasn't taken 4 tall defenders in for a long time. Watson would be coming out.

That's stretching it. Medium defenders at a pinch, not small. Bower too.

Not really. Jamo's done it effectively before and I've heard Ratts and Laidler himself say he can play tall/small in interviews.

Spot on 100%.

Carrazzo has never been dropped in the time Ratten has been coach, despite some poor performances, by our "Suppossed" leadership group player.

Even when he collects 30+ touches, most of the time 50% go to the opposition.

By continuosly selecting players of this ilk, we will always be a mediocre team at best, and just making up the numbers in finals.
The Home and Away season itself these days, require highly skilled players, in order to beat Zones. In Finals the reqirement of High skilled players goes up a notch, as the intensity rises as well as the skills (due to the best Teams only competing). For Carlton to go to the next level and make the Top 4, we need to weed out players of Carrazzo's poor skill level.

Considering that Carrazzo has been playing AFL since 2004, under 2 different Senior coaches and numourous Assistant Coaches, and still turns the ball over suggests that the saying's; "You can't teach an old dog new tricks" and You can't change a leopards strips", are spot on the money. This is proven to be the case with Carrazzo, therefore he is a liability, rather than an asset to the team.

Answer this question?

Will Carrazzo be in the leadership group at any of the Top 4 sides?

My answer is; "He'll be lucky to get a senior game, let alone be in the leadership group".

Therefore I believe Carrazzo is only guaranteed a game every week because Ratten loves him.

The only one I can think of that he did successfully was Medhurst, who was never a quick or agile player for his size.
