Jimmy Plunkett, what the hell happened to that guy, I remember watching him play a few good games then all of a sudden he disappeared. He wasn't too bad, he knew how to get his hands on the ball.....

He works for Leading teams

Troy Bond was a bit stiff.

Craig Bradley was stiff we cut his career short. He could have played to age 60.

Grigg is a bit stiff he will never be a premiership player.

Rewoldt was half stiff when getting caught in that photo.

Jake Edwards - He was just about ready to explode in 2010 when he was cruelly cut at the end of the 2009 season. Had a great set of hands, big body, great endurance, good goal kicking sense and in his 5 AFL games, Jake Edwards showed that he had enormous potential. Who would ever forgot when he ran into the open goal against Richmond in 2008 and slammed home the sealer

I remember people comparing Edwards with Wayne Carey. This is how good i believe Jake Edwards could have been.

RICHARD DENNIS...true he played in a premiership side in '87..but his back to back ACL injuries spoilt an impending champion career in it's tracks

He did go on to be a star and legend in the QFL with a few QFL B&F's and a flag or two. I think he even Captained his team.

A quick googles sees he now works in the AFL in development. I think he is now running around getting a kick in the VAFA.

Ripper lad.

Regards Cazzesman

Jake Edwards was never going to be 'the next Carey', but he did have some potential that we could ve used in the post Fev forward line. Thought he was goingto be a gun after I saw him kick 3 goals and take a few screamers in a practice game against the Dogs in early 2008, but he didnt quite grasp his opportunities at senior level.

Adam Bentick - Played some good games early in his career, but despite good forms in the Ants in 2007 and 2008, couldnt crack it for a game with the Blues. Could ve been the in and under player we re so craving at the moment

Brad Pearce - Had a monster 1995 and a not bad 1996. Dont know what happened but he kind of dropped off after that..

Troy Bond - Had a pretty good first up year in 1994, but cracked the sads after being dropped from the 1995 GF side, and sooked off to the Crows.

Mark Porter - Played some great games in the ruck for us in the late 90s / early 00s, but for some reason ws traded offto North for Corey McKernan. Dumb move, as had we kept him, we wouldnt have had to stoop to the depths of having French, Mott, McLaren, DeLuca and Akland as our 'answer' in the Ruck.

Peter Franis - Pretty good young player for us in 1979/80, but was shipped off to Fitzroy in the Marchesani deal.

Warren Ralph - booted 9 goals on debut in 1984 against North. Won the club goalkicking that year I think despite spending some time in the 2's then hurt his knee the following year and that was that.
That debut game created a huge buzz amongst the faithful at the time.

Ralph was too hot and cold, he did his knee in the opening round of his second season at Carlton aginst the Bullies, but I think played reserves finals later that year

The following season along came Sticks, Dorra and the rest so he was squeezed of opportunities

On a positive note, he did win 1st Division lotto when playing at Glenelg a few years later

He comes into work on the odd occasion, bull of a boy, but very sociable. Until asked about Carlton. Then he clams up tight. Just won't talk about it at all. Last time I spoke to him he said he was looking at Port melb in the VFL, and hoping for a go at one of the new afl clubs. A bit disappointed at being let go, me thinks, hasn't given up hope of playing at he top level

Based on some of the antics of past and present players in the AFL - you could draw a long bow and say Angwin and Norman were stiffed

He is the uncle of Andrew Collins - who we swapped for Shaun Grigg - so the family connection continues and hopefully the premiership connection continues as well.

Ezra Bray was a lost cause who had the talent..... The culture wasn't that great here 10 years ago and he fell victim to it....

Ezra and Rotten Ronnie were frequently on the prowl in G-Town.

Totally agree with the comments on Backwell ... another victim of the Brittain era in which most Carlton players with a bit of skill were jettisoned to fit in with the coach's need for toughness over technique.

Backwell was the one that sprung to my mind, although I hope he was not overlooked for perceived lack of 'toughness.' Wasn't it him that got cleaned up taking a courageous mark in just his first or second game? (against the filth IIRC).

Porter was another I was disappointed to lose.

Yes Brittain wanted players who have a go but technique and skill were just as important. I totally agree with his view. Players who cant commit physically to the contest will let you down when the going gets tough .Backwell on the other hand was let go because he was too small. Blaming his departure on Brittains philosophies is wrong IMO
