When M. Gale wears it?

Until each team plays each other the same number of times, the AFL, as a fair dinkum competition, cannot be taken seriously.

He (Mr Swann) said the honour and pride associated with the club's traditional navy blue jumper was priceless.

And really, the thread title should be changed...FFS - we'll only wear it a few times a year - it's not an away jumper and since when is it referred to as a strip?

Yeah, that is what Swann is quoted as saying in this article above from 2008. Swann said in 2008 Carlton would never wear "insipid white" again. . ...and in 2010 what happened?

Carlton are still wearing the "insipid white" jumper he is referring to and not just once but 3-4 times in 2010- if not more.

The AFL get you to wear it once or twice a year for starters, then the next year three or four times, and then by a few years later you are wearing it for every 2nd game. I thought the club colour was navy blue...apparently not. Now Carlton is whatever colour the AFL deems they should wear.

I want complete transparency on this issue - they should advise the members before the start of the home and away season how many times Carlton are forced to wear "insipid white". I used to be a member of the "navy blues".... not of the "insipid white".

I'm all for change.

Lets change back to only wearing Dark Navy Blue.
Not white, Not Baby Blue and not egg yolk...just Dark Navy Blue.

Another reason I barrack for Carlton is because as a kid I thought they had the best jumper.
The players looked bigger and stronger in Dark Navy Blue.

Code for: It is crap.

Why don't all teams, and not just Collingwood, stand up for the non-need for another jumper?

Because there is a need. Clash strips are required.

they so are NOT required, clubs have simply not taken enough of a stance on this.
yet again

Here's a trivia question for you:

Did the navy blues beat St Kilda this year?

If your answer is yes you would be wrong.

The correct answer is the "insipid whites" -(Swann's words, not mine) won the match.

So the navy blues still haven't beaten St Kilda for almost 10 years. Sad really.

With the congestion of the modern game and the sheen on the modern jumper a clash jumper is required.
I am up for changing our clash jumper every couple of years. The white one looked ok and we won enough games with it to suggest it didnt effect our form but i would like to see us mix it up and am interested to see what the designers come up with.

Keep what we've got.

A simple reversal of our current colours, with no weird add in colours that are not navy blue and white. And I don't want to be one of those clubs that is changing jumpers every few years, even if it is an away strip.

The Melbourne silver jumper was rubbish.

The Carlton silver strip is the one I care about.

We should play in a navy and white striped jumper or the white clash strip in round 3 just to screw with the AFL.

And to @#$%&! with the Pies as they unveil their flag.

The white jumper will be changed, so there's no point saying - 'keep what we've got'. The club had a lot of complaints about the white jumper despite it selling strongly through the merchandise shop. Sales of the white jumper dipped in 2010, and the away jumper for 2011 is likely to appease those people who hated the white one so much.

But did they really hate the white guernsey, or did they hate any alternate strip?

I hope the club did its research, or the change may end up being pointless, and please no-one at all.

THIS.
What happens when they get as many complaints next year? Another change?

Not if they're told about how the decision was made to change.

I have a radical design that might work as a clash guernsey. This one would be a pleasant surprise for many.

This guernsey might work as a clash guernsey....It might even work for non-clash matches as well.
Hell, it might even work for all matches.
