Typical Carlton.
Find someone who has been successful in the past and go after them.
What about putting some faith in someone who's success may be in front of them?
I hope we stick with Ratten and support him to the hilt.
I thought the elimination final clearly showed the players are with him.
Yep. I enjoyed listening to Judds speech at the B&F and hearing little snippets from the players about that final and what they got out of it. They sound like a focused group. I also ejoyed hearing Ratts talk about team defence needing to get to another level. Its those defensive mechanisms and setups that to me have been our weekness. Whether that is because of our youth or a few other things need to be ticked off before setting that up or because we just havent got it right i am not sure but if we can tighten up and reduce scores against we will improve yet again.
Malthouse copped loads of criticism along the way. Leaving Obrien and Brown one out with Fev on a couple of occasions. Letting Shaw get tagged off half back for an entire season. Kept playing Thomas when he had lost the plot. Ignoring the corridor got a load of criticism from the media and collingwood fans.
Hopefully Ratts does not panic and start listening to fans or coaching for his contract as he gets the players dotting their i's and crossing their t's.
Go Blues !
He persisted with Davies when Thornton might have got us over the line
Showed faith in Hendo when Fisher might have been better
He promoted Ellard when Wiggo was available
He gave all the rucks a fair crack at establishing themselves
He has massive faith in Armfield
He has kept Gibbs down back trying to make him the next Hodge or Goddard when he was clearly better in the midfield
He has stuck to his guns with Waite and kept him forward when he plays his best footy accros half back
He turned Houla into a defensive forward
He stuck by Garlett when most were saying he was to small
you can see what he is trying to do it is just not happening fast enough
