6PR Radio reported today that the big movers in Perth are puttinga bid together of 1.0m a year to get Malthouse to come back to the WCE.

The deal is allegedly being masterminded bt Perth property tycoon Nigel Satterly who is rumoured to offered business opportunities that would virtually double this amount.

Just a lazy 2.0m pa.

He could get close to that at a melbourne club.
Over a mil for coaching and other business related income which is not under the salary cap so it doesnt have to be hidden.

He might possibly make 2.0m all up in Melb, but they are saying "whatever it takes" as part of the Perth deal. They'd go to any lengths and there is A LOT of money in this town (trust me there more cash looking for a home in Perth than can be believed).

The Eagles are supported by the wealthiest concentration of people in the country and they are finally getting a bit pissed off.

maybe part of the reason we can't attract assistant coaches long term....maybe a few suspect if we have a bad year we will get malthouse or a roos etc.

At least we won't hear the dribble that he hasn't won a premiership in eons, pity it took a filth premiership to break the duck.

Best coach in the business.

Haha just heard Malthouse on the dais: "I've got one more year left Ed"

Maybe reading too much into it but seemed like a direct pointer to Fat Ed

Agreed. Great coach.

Congratulations to the filth. They're the best team and the best run club.

Forget any notion of getting Malthouse. The fire will not be in his belly like it used to now.

Our great needs to create their own great coaches and players.

Typical Carlton.
Find someone who has been successful in the past and go after them.
What about putting some faith in someone who's success may be in front of them?
I hope we stick with Ratten and support him to the hilt.
I thought the elimination final clearly showed the players are with him.

Yep. I enjoyed listening to Judds speech at the B&F and hearing little snippets from the players about that final and what they got out of it. They sound like a focused group. I also ejoyed hearing Ratts talk about team defence needing to get to another level. Its those defensive mechanisms and setups that to me have been our weekness. Whether that is because of our youth or a few other things need to be ticked off before setting that up or because we just havent got it right i am not sure but if we can tighten up and reduce scores against we will improve yet again.

Malthouse copped loads of criticism along the way. Leaving Obrien and Brown one out with Fev on a couple of occasions. Letting Shaw get tagged off half back for an entire season. Kept playing Thomas when he had lost the plot. Ignoring the corridor got a load of criticism from the media and collingwood fans.
Hopefully Ratts does not panic and start listening to fans or coaching for his contract as he gets the players dotting their i's and crossing their t's.

Go Blues !

He persisted with Davies when Thornton might have got us over the line
Showed faith in Hendo when Fisher might have been better
He promoted Ellard when Wiggo was available
He gave all the rucks a fair crack at establishing themselves
He has massive faith in Armfield
He has kept Gibbs down back trying to make him the next Hodge or Goddard when he was clearly better in the midfield
He has stuck to his guns with Waite and kept him forward when he plays his best footy accros half back
He turned Houla into a defensive forward
He stuck by Garlett when most were saying he was to small

you can see what he is trying to do it is just not happening fast enough

Why is it dribble? I would have thought it is indisputable fact.
Malthouse has been at the 2 best resourced clubs in the AFL and it took him 16 years to win a flag. Clarkson took 3 or 4 years with less resources. Thompson took the same amount of time to win 2 premierships with less resources. Williams took little time with a club running off the smell of an oily rag. Matthews was in a similar situation to Malthouse coaching a club that had advantages over the rest. He won 3 in a row.
Stating that Malthouse is the best in the business because he won the flag is a simplistic argument IMO.

If Malthouse was the best in the business, he wouldn't be losing his job in 12 months.

Not sure about these two. I agree with Montgommery on gibbs in the backline. He has won us far more games there than in the middle where he is just your average player. Waite is of far mor value to the team as a forward. These are just opinions.
