Agree, Betts is a junk time goal specialist. Wouldn't trade him though. Maybe needs half a dozen games in the Bullant next year.

Wrong!! He has had shots at goal early in games, he just hasn't nailed them. He is also kicked to in a one on one contest far too often, the ball should be kicked to a marking target so Eddie can get to the foot of the contest.

..there's also the 'lone-hand' he played vs the roo's this year when the team played shizen.. ...no front running downhill skiing there.. ..which is basically what he's being accused of..

..makes me laugh actually.. ..Betts is our leading goal kicker [as a small].. ..he's doing well in assists, tackles, marks F50.. ..basically, he's doing very well in ALL the key area's of a small fwd.. ..and still, he's not doing enough.. ..even though no-one's doing better..!!..

I would keep the guy who suggested trading Betts as far a away from the recruting department as possible. Betts is the only guy in the side who can make a tackle stick, he plays lead up forward and has kicked 40 goals. All this in a side that lacks grunt and toughness.

As for Garlett and Yarran. Are they going to be strong enough? Garlett has been great for a rookie pick but you would think he is going to struggle against big bodies. Can he perform against top sides? Yarran will need to dazzle and tip toe a bit more often to overcome his light frame and lack of hardness. A realist would trade one of these two, who may also have currency, before Betts

The stats (goals specifically) suggest Betts form has dropped right away since he re-signed with the club - his worst game was against the Bulldogs, just days after he had re-signed.

That was pretty much the entire team's worst game

Yarran has a light frame :?:

Went in plenty hard against WC and Fremantle to win the ball and set up goals.

Don't always disagree with you JK but Grigg is a 'nothing player'. Just an observation/opinion. suspect kicking, decision making and footy smarts. And I don't see him as a hard nut at all. Anyway, that's just my take on him.

No probs 99...I just have feeling about Grigg reckon he may surprise....let's hope so anyway but Im sure we can agree Lucas has what it takes from what we have already seen of him

Would love Grigg to prove me wrong cause he 'looks' like an elite player. And yes, Lucas is a gem. Wait till he's about 23

He hasn't nailed them early in the game cause that's when the pressure is at its most intense. Should be played as a classic rover/fwd pocket

Why the hell would we trade Betts.

As Big Kahuna Boot said he's high up for goals, goal assists, tackles, marks F50...and is still young and definetely on the improve (maybe a poor[er] last month or two but this year has been his best).

He's good in close and i cant really understand people calling him 'lazy', for he chases hard and works hard in contests. ATM not having the same impact as earlier in the year but that is because opposition teams are putting more time into him and sitting their best small/mid defender on him...its just something he is adjusting to and he will, aka Dal Santo/Rich learning how to beat a hard tag.

i believe this has helped Garlett have a higher impact as he is allowed more freedom. One thing that sets us apart and when right can be a real asset is our 'three amigos'...there was a lot of hype about them earlier in the year for a reason. When they are firing, along with Waite, Hendo and i hope Robbo and Houlihan, we'll have such a dangerous muli-pronged forward line...why trade away such an asset?

Trade Betts - DUMB IDEA ! Keep him & teach him to kick straight. He should have 50+ this year, which is a pretty good year for a small forward.
40 + is still pretty good as well.
