Carlton's Jarrad Waite will miss the Blues' next two games after accepting a two-match ban today for a high hit on Port Adelaide's Jason Davenport.

A few extra tough training sessions in the meantime might be in order.

Havent seen too many Blues rubbed out for being over aggressive in the last five years. In a way that is refreshing.
I was worried in the pre season that with fev gone we wouldnt have anyone to get in opposition faces and that we would be a bit timid so again refreshing to see waite take it upon himself to be the that player.
However, i think this act was a little week and i really dont like seeing our boys go down this road. So take a deep breath Waite. Try and put use your aggression for good not evil.

If he was going to belt someone he should have saved it up for the Hawks.

He could have belted one of Clarkson's snipers e.g Mitchell or Lewis

Now that he has accepted the early plea, does he still have any points being carried over to future suspensions?

I think Waite has been pretty lucky not to get reported before this year. He punched someone in the head in the first round (accidently of course) and against the saints he had a fe jumper punches and swung a clenched fist at someone late in the game and it was only good fortune that it did not connect. He seems to be pretty undisciplined with his phsycial actions at the mo. Maybe this will be a good chance for him to cool down a bit and realize the he is no use to the team sitting in the stands... Well maybe not no good, he might have given hendo another chance to show us what he is capable of.

Complete and utter waste!!! He had the opportunity last week to smash Milne! I would have shouted him a trip to the Goldie if he'd got Milne.

IIRC his first suspension was from elbowing / smacking Mitchell...or was it Crawford?

What, he needs to start batting for the same team.

Not from where I was watching. Sure Jarrod jumped into the guy and hit him high but you don't get opened up like that without something sharp smashing into you.

Not a good look SOV.

His elbow clearly comes out at the point of contact. The wound below the eye is a clear indication of that.

2 weeks is probably about right. The fact Hille should have gone as well doesn't make Waite less guilty.

Would Waite have got rubbed out for longer if his sharp elbow took out the kid's eye?

It was bloody close, millimetres away from doing brutal damage, but thank god no serious damage was done.

Everyone concerned is lucky with this one.

Seems David Hille is playing the "big, clumsy ruckman card", something Greg Stafford used to make a fine art of.

You mean to tell me that Judd's act of looking for pressure points is worse than someone getting and elbow to the head ?.

The AFL tribunal is a joke.

Before long AFL players will be wearing skirts, unable to take more than 1 step and become a non-contact sport.

Good point Outback.

Old news I know, but it still annoys me that Judd coped such a harsh penalty because somone thought that he "looked" like he might have been trying to do something nasty.

As for Waite - next time tackle Jarrod! There was holding-the-ball there for the taking.

Yeah I agree too much of his old man in that act....we need to be agressive but a little less dumb....however on the flipside it is a chance for someone to come in and make Waite work his ass off to get back into the team...

I'm with you Wojee.
I don't mind a bit of "here I am."
Make em think twice.
Sure it's 2 weeks that could have been served better.
But show me the last premiership side that didn't have someone that made the opposition think twice.

Regards Pedro.

you guys/gals need to have a look at it again.

it was a fair bump IMO. The Port player, stopped and checked to avoid the bump, an attempt to go around the back of waite, which is why Waite got him high.

If the port player took the bump, accepted the colision, and braced himself for it, it would have been a fair hip and shoulder and none of us would be having this conversation, and indeed, most would be praising both waite and the port player for some "old fashion football"

Id actually would have gone against the tribunal on this one. Waite can not be held accountable for the actions of another resulting him hiting the head.

its like someone running head first into your elbow, knocking himself out, then you getting two weeks for head high contact.

his arm was tucked in, he was on the ground (may have had slight elevation but was no where near anything like what Hille has done) and was on target to make a clean and fair bump UNTIL the Port Player changed direction.

That should not be Jarrod's Fault. I have long held the opinion that the bump isnt dead, but after this, forget it. Its dead.

having said all that, im using commensense. So in reality when dealing with the MRC, im surprised he didnt get 8 weeks!

Personally I think Hille's aggression has been great. Sure, some people think he's been lucky, but IMO he's done it perfectly - pushed it right to the limit, without hitting the head and without being suspended. If he played for us I'd tell him to not change a thing.
