on the theme of working against us, Wanganeen and Woewodin's brownlows, stolen from Mssrs Williams and Koutoufides respectively

It would really HAVE to be Jezza......an incredible steal for an absolute Superstar and Legend of the game.

As Barass said at the time before Jezza had even played a game......"just to see him playing social tennis....he's like a cat, with incredible agility and reflexes.....and he's deceptively quick as well"

And I would add with hindsight.......he could also take a high mark.......

I would say Juddy was a bit of a steal...not when you look at it in terms of what we gave up (Kennedy and a first rounder) but certainly given how many clubs were in contention, including our closest rivals in Essendon*, Collingwood and Richmond. Great to pinch such a great player from their grasp!

Good timing The_Cranium. Mr.Russo has a lot to answer for...."The Man who Cost Diesel a Brownlow":

This is the first article under the 'From the Outer' banner, a new author who has joined the site via the Club.

As for Woewodin over Koutoufides in 2000, where do we start? If 'Agro' was still here we'd have a comment on 5 on this topic by now...

I think Clape was picked up in the PSD aswell, wasn't he?

Yes....in '94....at #13.......and Glenn Manton at #27.....both great value.

Particularly good value when both were questionable pickups. Manton being flicked from Essendon* was one thing, but he was no favourite to picked up by anyone. We took a risk and got a reward.
Clape had injury problems. I guess the injuries won in the end, but he was struggling to get into a strong WC team. Instead he became a legend in one of the greatest combinations ever to grace the field. A great pickup.

I thought at the time that Manton was a shocking choice: I'd seen him at Essendon* and was far from impressed. He made me eat my words. I hope that can happen again.

Greg Williams was a handy pick up. Juddy too.

what about the club we have had the best steals from?

the demons without doubt have been great benefactors for the blues.

already mentioned is Earl

....two other premiership players spring to mind = Barrass and of course Greg Wells for a cameo to finish his career.

.......good news Brock will make it four premiership players.

go dees!
