Lots of Support for Aussie

Hasn't shown much at AFL level so if he can get some consecutive games then yes i would say a definite improver.

Santa and Dreads Armfield for me all the way.

I'm going to do something different and actually nominate a smokey to be biggest improver, rather than one of the favourites.

Jeff Garlett.

Given his build, a full pre-season will do him wonders and if Eddie Betts struggles to get back into the side or as we all hope evetually moves more into the midfield, there will be plenty of chances for Garlett to step up

..yeah, i nominated Errol too, and he definately needs to get that suave swashbucklin' mo'goatee combo back..

..don't worry about Eggy Betts, even with an interrupted pre-season [for him, they're always a bit underdone anyways] he'll still have better fitness than Errol.. ..and he's our best fwd by a country mile now.. ..in goals, assists, tackles.. .... ..and with stints in the guts, a great clearance player, reflexes like lightning in there..

I think our biggest improver will be the Yazz closely followed by Aussie....

....also think that Carrots will finally get that NRS nomination

I think Austin too....but maybe as a fwd instead of back. Waite will still need to play a lot down back so Aussie will be the one thrown fwd I think.

My biggest improvers for next year would be Yarran (a real preseason + settled off-field issues should have him playing some good football for the side), Austin (Has the makings of a great KPD) and Hampson (He could be ANYTHING)

But my SMOKEY (the title of the thread ppl :P) would be R'OK. I remember the big wraps he was given when he first got to the club. A big (isn't he like 190 cm now), skillful left footer in our forward line would be GREAT IMO. Give him a go there in the NAB Cup and see what he can do. I know, I know, it's prob a year early but I would love to see what the kid can do !!!!!!!!!!!

Bryce Gibbs.

Yes, I know he's already good, so how much better can he get?

You'll see when he's the brownlow favourite.

Steven Browne... will cement a position in the team and surprise everyone. The kid is a natural footballer and our team doesn't have too many of those.

Agree with Molly...Steven Browne is your old fashioned footballer, has been working hard on his fitness by all reports and I think he can step up and be a regular.
I think backpocket is still his best opportunity, Aaron Joseph had the backpocket role for the main in 2009 but i think showed he is capable of playing on ball in tagging roles etc and his run and carry can be used up the ground.
Browne needs some game time to get used to the pace of the AFL.....looked slow vs Essendon* in particular and was stitched up in a few one on ones but i think with a better fitness base, more body strength he can reverse that.

Yarran and Bower .

Both training really well . I see big improvement from both these guys in 2010 .

Setanta too . Will make CHF his own this season .

Browney, like a few others, really needs to grab hold of the opportunity when he gets it because our growing depth of talent will see those who don't perform playing in a red jumper and shipped off at the end of the year.

Super courageous and strong overhead and just needs to adapt to the tempo as Elwood said.

I think Ratts made the point at some stage last season that they left Browne in the reserves too long at the start of 2009, and that it therefore took him some weeks when he came up to the seniors to adjust to the pace of it all. He looked best in the St Kilda game, and then put in a shocker against Essendon* and that's the last we saw of him.

He can make back pocket his own - mainly because, as Elwood says, I expect Joseph to be spending a fair bit of time in the midfield rather than down back this season. I'd like to think that with a few more pre seasons he can be the hard ball winner in midfield too - but I think that guys who have watched him closely over the years like ThePsychologist and Doc Sherrin (and who also know a fair bit more about football than me!) seem to think he is just a natural back pocket. It is a big year for him though, and I am the first to admit that he needs to make inroads. But he had injuries last offseason, and with an injury free preseason this year I think he will be a monty to be in the NAB Cup team - and really, from there it is all up to him. If he's given his chance, then I strongly believe he can take it with both hands.

Oh... and please read Doc Sherrin's post on the first page. He makes the vital and important point that there is no reason Armfield and Browne can't play in the same team. Contrary to popular opinion, it is not an either / or option with these guys.

Hammer, just because if things do click for him its hard to think of another player in the comp with his blend of size and speed.
He could become an even bigger version of Kouta.

And ROK just because he looks a player and is rated by pretty much everyone at the club.

It's just very exciting times at Carlton, a good group of A grade (Judd, Murphy, Gibbs, Waite, Kreuzer) and B grade (Thornton, Simpson, Walker, McLean, Jamison, Betts, Carazzo, Bower etc) senior players together with the best list of exciting young talent at CFC in my life. Upside up the yin-yang.

I haven't seen any of the pre-season, but Yarran, Hampson, Warnock, Austin, O'Keeffe, Grigg, Joseph, Robinson, Hendo, Setanta and Browne among others have so much improvement in them. Walker and Waite will improve the team. Lucas and Cachia are going to fill our midfield cup

Real depth

Anybody that can start taking marks up fwd can be a star, but it a good start when u at least nail all the uncontested marks.

But Brock will win this contest hands down.
