Only Kennedy for me... the rest (including Hamill and Fev) I don't give a toss about.

losing Hamill still hurts me.

I idolised that guy.

missing out of goddard the day before the draft was nearly as bad.

fev i'm not that cut up about to be honest. i cant watch any old footage with him in it though.
going to be so werid seeing him play somewhere else though.

i was actually pretty pissed at losing brent heaver - we just seemed to miss a decent crumber for years after he left.

was not at all happy with the porter deal either, justin murphy to geelong was a head scratcher and i though corey mcgrath was cut too early also

Kris Massie. Was just starting to find some consistency & we let him go.

Jesaulenko's departure was huge when I was a kid.

Peter McConville's move to StK was disappointing - of the blokes who joined the Saints back then he still had a bit to offer

Hamill's defection was hard to take.

Massie trade was one I still can't work out why we did.

I was disappointed we let the Lions draft Sam Sheldon given the contribution his father made to our golden run in the 70s and early 80s.

Losing the services of Kennedy was disappointing even if it has handed arguably one of the greatest to ever wear our jumper.

Fevola's self-implosion rates right up there given what he produced in his decade at Carlton. I thought he'd become Carlton's greatest ever goalkicker. Now he'll be remembered with mixed emotions by all who support the club.

Camporeale's decision to walk out was disappointing but that disappointment turned to disdain given he did so and didn't ensure the club got at least something and that he ended up at Essendon*. Short memories the old Bombers given thier sook about Adam McFlee!

I loved Jezza as a kid. Did't watch any football for a year after that...

All our boys to the saints:the old mosquito sqadron..

Disapponted about Campo but who would have wanted to listen to Denis?

Sad to see Fev gone. He was Carlton through and through. OK he isn't a too bright but he is a footballer, not a diplomat. I guess he must hve been dragging others down

Jezza hurt the most though. I am in my fourties and still wish he stayed with us to the end.

So he's gone from having an ordinary year in 01 to a full blown hack only to be saved by a B+F in an era where Carlton played some of its worst football ever?

Let's not forget that a B+F back then was pretty easy to come by. The club even awarded one to Lance Whitnall.

McKernan's best football was well past him by then. The fact we traded away our first round pick AND Porter in the so called Super Draft, shows how much we thought of him at the time. You wouldn't have traded a bag of shit for him back then.

McKernan is on a long list of has beens that past Carlton football departments have had raging hard ons for.

Peter McConville, firstly because he was such a good player and secondly because it seemed to announce that good players could leave Carlton.

Similar thing with Buzz, but because he went back to Perth it was, like Oliver, more a sense of regret of being 'unpotentiated' rather than the anger at those that defect to the opposition.

More recently Kennedy was the one that was hardest to take since he did all that he was asked when he was here. I sincerely hope he gets a premiership medallion or two before he hangs up the boots.

I remember sitting next to his missus at a practice game at Skinner reserve many moons ago. He just wasn't into it. Could have been anything.

PJ, at the time it was felt McKernan wasn't playing his best football under Pagan and he could do better elsewhere.

In a time before playing 2 ruckman was in vogue we tried playing Porter and Allan and it didn't work. We struggled up forward and were crying out for some help up there. Trading for a forward-ruckman rather than having 2 ruckman was the right idea. Allans best football was superiour to Porters and Allan had told us his foot was good so Porter was the ligical one to go.

McKernan did a pretty good job taking centre bounces and then going forward to be our only option, while Hotton and Merrington rucked around the ground.

It was the right idea and probably the right player. Other circumstances prevented it really working.

I agree - and it hurts more to know why he left. All he wanted was an increase from $3,000 pa (yes P.A.!!) to $4,000 pa. Carlton in their typical arrogant style cleared him mid - season (in those days there was a June deadline) because at that time we were on top with something like 8 wins and one loss (winning 13 of our first 14) and North were on the bottom without a win. Guess who won the flag that year and guess who was best on ground. I see a lot of him these days here in Hobart and it still rankles with me. Ivan Rohrt....remember that name as one of our more forgettable Presidents .........was the man who thought we could do without the Tiger.

I will never ever ever ever get over losing Fev. I dont care what he did in the past,,,,watching him kick goals for the flower Lions is going to hurt like hell and if it turns out to be the reason why we dont win a GF in the next 3 years it is going to be even tougher to swallow. He will always be Blue to me.

You can tell Im still absolutely shattered cant you.

Sums it up for me, too. Well, except for the idolising bit, but he was a clear favourite at the cameldome.

+ 1

Good kid, loved the club, did the thing the club wanted him to do.

And Mark Porter.

as one who remembers the 70's as a child growin up.
Craig Davis left because he kept getting knocked out and Black eyes and I remember the DR's at Carlton tellinghim that it could leave permanenet damage if it continued.
Carlton wanted to avoid this but as a Professional Footballer Craig Davis found a mob who would play him and he played for the pies for a few years.
No one realised the permanent damage was that he would play in many losing GF's ala Ray Byrne against his former club!

McConville was very disappointing. Hamill was the big one. I remember the disbelief i felt when he walked. Not only was he a bit of a favourite to watch, it also astounded me he would actually go through with it.
Kennedy was very disappointing but happy to see the back of Fevola.
