No ones saying he's a world beater but to suggest his 2008 was awful shows a lack of insight IMO.
His 2008 was ordinary / disappointing, particularly goalkicking-wise. He went backwards from a very encouraging 2007. 2009 was a horror year for Fish, just because 08 was good in comparison doesn't make it a good season.
His numbers were fine in 08, but his effectiveness fell substantially. He was played more as a lead-up linking forward (which buttressed his stats) but his impact on games was minimal.
