Imagine the kick in the guts when he wasn't in the team

I've seen nothing to suggest that he's sitting back on his laurels and taking it easy, though i did hear about what your intimating.
Its all well and good to wait to the end of the season, but what if HE didn't want to do that. You then risk alienating a bloke and getting him off side. If the club wants to keep a player then you just don't do that.
I think you just need to get used to the fact that the Carlton Football club are happy with his progress and really want to keep him there.
All very true, I guess I'm declaring I hope it wasn't a routine decision to enter into negotiations with him as they do with most players at mid-season.
The ones who sign now are just the ones who agree the fastest.
Or the ones that want to be at the club, badly

Well that's something of an attitude reversal; personally I'd have waited on that a bit longer, but I'm not in the industry.
Canvassing the publicly displayed aspects of club and player attitude for the season, you would suggest we blow a bit of smoke up our own arse right through the hierarchy. I'm all for positive reinforcement and camaraderie, but it does need to be tempered (which is why we're seeing a few blokes being read the riot act, chapter and verse).
2/3 signings ain't bad though.
