Stan Alves and Sellers were on air at the time, and the caller identified himself by his full name (not simply saying Hi - I'm Jordan's dad). He sounded in his 50's and spent a good 90 seconds or 2 minutes going on about his son. If it wasn't Bannister's dad, then it's a radio-broadcasting hoax that Orson Welles would have been proud of.

I don't know Bannister from a bar of soap, but I wouldn't be surprised if he'd be very, very embarrased by this. Imagine your mum striding into your office, complaining to your boss that you really should have been made Manager instead of that other bloke...

Look pre season Denis had high hopes for Jordan... however at the moment there is no doubt Bannister is in the bad books...
I think the best thing Jordan can do is to tell his dad to mind his own business (if indeed he was the caller)and for himself to concentrate on his footy between now and the end of the year and hopefully salvage something for himself.

Unfortunately, it my opinion there are a few who arent taking the heat well....and its showing out on the field.

Did anyone say if your son plays shit, he doesn't get a game? It should be club policy(and obvious to any player and his dad, mum, aunty, cousin, hanger on)! I am glad Clarke is getting a run this week. At least he tries week after week!

Football dads are the worst, anyone who knows Lloydy's dad knows how shattered he is that all 3 of his boys didn't make it at Carlton just like he didn't...

I would swap him for a 4th round draft pick or Ryan Lonie.

Collingwood wont take Jordy. either would anyone else.
If i were Jordon i would knuckle down and galvanise myself to play the second half of the season as best as i could.

He isnt a shithouse footballer... theres something going on in his head.
He needs to exorcise whatever is going on in there.. regardless of what Denis has done and just get on with being the best footballer he can.
He has about 12 weeks to turn himself around.

Collingwood wont want another David Cloke in their ranks.
either would anyone else... Jordy is an adult... playing an adult game. .. he has to realise that .

The father of Carlton tagger Jordan Bannister said yesterday the 22-year-old would leave the Blues after this season to trial with Collingwood.

Wayne Bannister yesterday rang ABC 774 to complain that his 190-centimetre son was being played out of position at the Blues and should be playing centre half-forward because he had a good leap and pace. But, he said Carlton coach Denis Pagan, who he described as a "very stern and good coach", had not been willing to move the Bannister from his tagging duties where he has had some impressive performances.

"What I can't understand is the kid really tries hard but he's not in the right position," said the elder Bannister, who had played for the Magpies reserves. "I think he could be at least centre half-forward. He's got a good leap (and) he's got plenty of sprint.

Does Wayne think Jordan is the next big thing in football?

Parents can be fickle sometimes.

An absolute joke.

Can Bannister take a pack mark?

My case rests.

The only person who can take a pack mark at our club is Fisher. Bannister is pretty good overhead though.

Could these comments mean that Jordan will see out the rest of the year in the Bullants?

One thing to consider is does Jordan support his father's comments?

From the article:
Quote:
"I think he could be at least centre half-forward."

Why stop there?

He could be captain coach of our next flag-winning team and go on to take them to 4 consecutive flags, before totally re-defining Australian Rules football.
When he retires, he will solve world hunger, and then turn his attention to race hatred. When he's finished with that (the week later), he will bring peace to the Middle East, and solve the world's Oil problems all on the same day.
Then he will reverse global warming and heal the Ozone layer, before restoring exctinct species with DNA technology. His last definig feat will be the cure and vaccine for cancer and AIDS, all taken care of on a lazy afternoon.

Can't blame Collingwood for chasing after that.....

They played the clip on the 5th Quarter last night.

Probably drunk, I'd say.

Oh.. someone (PJ?) asked if Collingwood have another Scotland we might be able to get for Bannister.

Matthew Lokan, anyone??
