I won't be giving a toss about streaks if we make finals for the next few years.

St Kilda and Sydney have a Shane Warne-Daryll Cullinan hold over the Blues, having won their last 12 games against Carlton.

The only small mercy for Carlton is it doesn't play either again this year unless it makes the finals.

Except for when we meet the Swans in round 16 :banghead:

1./ We nearly beat the Saints.
2./We would have if Juddy hadn't broken his beak, and Waitey was there.
3./The Saints were trying really hard...they had a top team out there.
4./There wasn't much difference in the end.
5./The Saints are a top 2 team right now bar none.
6./We came back from a hammering in the first quarter.
7./Essendon* are not a top 2 team right now....we can certainly beat them, and we will.
8./We can and will beat Freo.
9./We can and must beat Swans...we shouldn't let them play us at the Showgrounds.Let's see how we go with this team,on a melbourne ground before we get hysterical.
10./Cats?..We are not a top 2 team yet...but we could beat them. Why not? They can lose a couple of games this year. You can't compare body sizes at this stage,so it's not neccesarily pyschological with them..its more a physical issue, and a team progress issue.

We are yet to beat any of our Bogey teams this year (Haw, Sydney, StK, Ess, Adel). We are definitely "coming", but until we beat one of them, we are justifiably a laughing stock amongst those clubs. I haven't included Geelong in that group as they're nearly everyone's bogey team.

Win one, and the dam walls may just burst. Tommorrow night would be a good time to start.

Just to put this Bombers "streak" into perspective:

1. 2007 - "tank" game, Fev taken off at the end. Draw your own conclusions.

2. Rd 3 2008 - many "underdone" midfielders, led @ 3/4 time. Mids ran out of gas. No stress there.

3. Rd ?? 2008 - "the get ahead of themselves" game, still hit the front in the last qtr after being circa 40 pts down 1/4 time. Into the 8 first time in years the week before, just couldn't handle it. Juddy concussed. Our most legit loss out of the 4, but....

4. Rd 3 2009 - lost by 4 pts, take away the "double goal" and we win. Poor conversion 1st quarter, could have put them away. Not hard enough at it after 1/4 time, definitely got ahead of themselves again (Fab 4 etc etc). Team too slow with Cloke, Hads, Wiggo, Jacobs out there etc. No Jamo for Lloyd, T-Bird touched up. No stress there.

If we're 100% focused this week, a streak that will be broken come circa Friday 9.50 pm.

I've got everything crossed BC. But i just know that it'll be another close one :yikes: . The most important move will be AJ to Lovett.....he just kills us everytime, and I've never seen anyone within 30m of him

Huge second half by the boys today. Great to stick it up the smug Roos. And I think it maybe a big step fwd for Ratts as well........some of those moves were excellent. And Yarran a taste of things to come ??

There will be ups and downs, but we're coming. Win next week and we leap-frog the Filth

I'm not sure I buy the idea of "bogey" teams. In any team's cycle, they will come up against a team which seems to always lift when playing them. Essendon* seems to be that way with us at the moment. We were likewise with them a couple of years back.

Other than that, you just meet teams which are at a higher point in their team lifecycle, and will have better skills, tactics, stronger bodies etc. Sydney, Geelong, St Kilda are in that patch, or have been lately. The difference is that we're on the way up, and Sydney on the way down, and they were ripe for turning the tables.

We've had plenty of chances over the last couple of years to break the Swans' run over us. Finally managed to do so today. Real dam busting finish too. I wonder if that was inevitable, once the team knew they finally had the Swans beat.

Yep, there have been occasions in the past where we were at least on even pegging with Sydney yet continued to come away empty-handed. The same goes for Freo and Essendon* (especially). The idea of a 'bogey' team for me is a team that no matter how many times you play them, force you to make the same mistakes over and over again. Sydney were one such team. Yesterday's win can't be underestimated in terms of the team's overall development, amd will no doubt be seen as a turning point should ultimate glory shine on us.

The idea of a 'bogey' team is an interesting and debateable one, but it is funny that we seem to do well against the Dogs, who have the Bombers well covered lately, yet we can't get over the line against the Dons. Go figure :screwy:

Technically we smashed the Freo hoodoo last year, but in 2009 we've already ended 2 record losing streaks and one more very long streak (Geelong):

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php? ... +into+2009

One more chance to end a streak with the Adelaide Round 22 match.

Also Hawthorn is on the cusp of creating a new record against us...

I've lost all hope with this one. We're never beating them again, nothing can convince me.

Hell, even blueman has predicted they'll haunt us even when we're winning flags.
