Forget Sandilands - I want to know what the AFL are doing to eliminate holding of midfielders (such as Judd, Gibbs, Murphy, Stevens etc) prior to a contest.

Open hand clearly IMO but don't underestimate what the heel of the hand can do and I dare say that's what Stevens struck him with. And another thing, the dropkicks at AFL house and the tribunal, in disregarding the Bryan incident, have now stated by their non action that you can hit to the head in a front on collision as long as there's no longterm injury. But even if its a complete accident your gone.


All of the contact to McGinnity was via Maxwell's shoulder and an accidental head clash was the cause of the damage. So what these peanuts are saying is that players deliberately smash their heads, risking serious injury to themselves in the process, into other players.

They fair dinkum make $hit up as they go along. Its about time precedent came into the tribunal process. Its so far overdue its not funny. Its the ONLY way to get some consistency into the process.

Whether it's an open fist or not, Stevo shouldn't have put himself in that situation in the first place. He's the vice captain of the footy club and he goes around whacking blokes in the guts. You don't see Juddy running around snotting every tagger that hangs on to him.

If I were the other players, I'd be pretty dirty on him.

The footage that I saw last night would suggest that the retaliation hit from behind was more severe than the incident that saw Nick Stevens offered two weeks (reduced to one if pleading guilty)...

Fraught with danger, no-one knows how these panels will determine these cases. No rhyme or reason to all of it.
Common sense clearly suggest no case to answer but we aren't dealing with people who deal with these concepts, just an organisation drunk with its own sense of power and self-worth!
