The round 22 in 2003 against in Norf didn't bother me so much as I knew that the season had been a dog of a one and expecting the boys to come up for a nothing game, was totally unrealistic.

But for me it would have to have been the final game at PP.

With a galaxy of old players sitting in the stands, the boys put on a really bad show for the heritage of the ground that has seen so many great wins.

Extremely demoralising.

For me it began when we lost Hamill. I could not remember in all my time barracking for Carlton losing a player that was required. In fact, I struggle to remember us not getting a player we wanted. That to me was the first signs of an empire in decay.
The North loss was as bad as it got....I said to the guy sitting next to me it was like watching witches hats in Carlton jumpers. I'll never forget how bad Beaumont was that day.

To me it was recruiting Ackland - such a sheer sign of desperation that the player Id always viewed as the worst in the competition was being heralded as some form of star recruit. it showed we were short-term, inept, and were failing to learn the lessons of recent years.

There was a game against St.Kilda at the MCG a few years back, where we pretty much gave up before half time, and seemed to have little to no idea how to move the ball forward with any conviction. That was the second time I p!ssed of home before half time. The first time was the game against Melbourne at the MCG, I think this might have been Walker's second game. We were smashed that day and the game was well and truly over by half time. I even saw Steven Kenna walking home at half time, in his Carlton suit. You know you're in trouble when ever teammates leave at half time

Things could have been worse.

The 49ers just sacked their coach, and promoted the 'guy who has worked with the defense for the past 3 years' to Head Coach, despite the fact the Niners have the worst defense in the NFL  (line that makes a lot of sense!!)

It's gonna be a looong year for Niners fans.

For me it was when Smorgy's idiot sidekick made back-page headlines with his pronouncement that we were in a worse situation than Fitzroy before they folded.

I think it was supposed to galvanise us into action :?

Dark days indeed.

Geeze, this thread really rams it home how far we've come as a club in just over 18 months...

We sure did win. It was Luke O'Sullivan's 50th, and some bloke played his only game for the club that day 9I think it was Andrew Balkwill).

Who the hell is that next to Peter Dean in the picture? Is it a young Ron de Iulio???

Yes, we won and Balkwill played his only game for Carlton. Never to play in Navy Blue....

That's be Camporeale, Molly.

verbs, would love that picture in the Blueseum in that game. I'll set up an Image Gallery for that game. I think the only other shot we have is an action shot of Bradley. If you have any more please let us know.

Even Peter Dean looks like he is about to break his own personal rule regarding folding up his jumper neatly and handing it back respectfully to the property steward.

I uploaded it originally intending to put it somewhere in the Blueseum but couldn't work out where it would best fit.

Let me know once you've got the gallery set up.

We've set up a gallery called 'The M&M Game!'. This can be accessed directly via either the Round 3, 1997 game link or via Image Galleries main menu. In this menu the M&M game is specifically listed.
