We need to dump Mars Coke and Gatorade as our sponsors. We should also ban all fried and high calorie food from our home games and finance the shortfall to the venue operators.

The science is actually showing that the problem with the fried food is the types of flour and oils used, rather than the frying itself. Anti-sugar would be a good stance.

But the wider context of your point is well made; sad what branding is slapped on our supposedly elite athletes. I wouldn't be surprised if there are team bans on eating our sponsors' products.

Also we should dump Nike as our sportswear sponsor until they improve the working conditions in their factories and pay a fair wage to their workers.

And we should dump all beer sales from our games because alcohol is a leading contributor to domestic and sexual violence.

What else can we get rid of??

Pokies have no positive impact on society. Nothing whatsoever

If the effect on our bottom line from seeking methamphetamines was positive would that be beneficial for society?

The effect on out bottom line is negative. As it makes us rather lazy knowing we fall back on the scourge.

Watch this doco if you haven't already.

Pokies are so evil and the people who make them and install them them appear to have no moral compass.

Carolyn Hirsh's interviews are especially chilling.

Getting rid of the pokies might also rid the club of the pokie king whose influence has cause many problems.

It was a good idea 4 years ago, but they're a little too exposed for my liking. The club will have to go to Uncle Bruce if they already haven't to try and work out what can be done because pokies aren't the money spinner they once were.

Most Carlton supporters are unaware that the club relies on handouts and financial guarantees from the AFL to stay in business.

Carlton needs to get more proactive to make its pokies more profitable. Could always tweak the pokie programming so they pay out even less. How do we get more punters in the doors? Player appearances? Signed jumpers to the punter who loses the most each week?
DO SOOMETHING @#$%&! Blues!!

Yep, pokies aren't the money spinner they once were. I have a friend who is a tax accountant at a company which has a lot of sporting clubs as clients, takings are way down on a few years ago, too many other gambling options now. Pokies aren't the gambling preference for younger people either, and the blue rinse set is dying off. She predicts there'll be a few sporting clubs going to the wall before too long.

The answer to the original thread question is probably 'No. Not while LoGiudice is President'.

I doubt he'd want to upset the applecart. He'll stick to the plan. It's a flawed plan, but at least it's a plan.

How is the financial benefit of the CFC profiting from selling illegal drugs of benefit to society, NBH? :P
