Just watched it on Fox Sport and you could not even consider it a free kick.

What a joke and will not even be looked at by the tribunal. It was a show of strength and was even less forcefull than restling. Fev will be playing next week, no problems.

I bet a thousand of those happen in a match. He just happened to have the umpire (and camera) watching and gave away the free kick. Big shit.

What was the free kick actually for?

That happens at every stoppage, midfielders getting belted.

yep

It was what I like to call a "Fevola Free".

Small, pathetic, impotent (probably) umpire putting Brendan on the naughty step so it's highlighted by lazy commentators ("Brendan's being naughty again") and the replay of the small, pathetic, impotent umpire telling big, bad, nasty Brendan off can be shown again and again.

Funny, I think the straight arm Fev gave him was deliberate to try to avoid getting reported. Not sure if Fevola exercises that sort of forward thinking, but that was the way it looked... maybe with carry over points he might get a week, but it definitely doesn't deserve it.

Big Fev gets held, arms chopped, pushed in the back and nothing, then he shows a bit of strength and gets punished. This happens every week and then he gets criticised for retaliating, what a joke.

Ratts its about time you make a stand and confront the Umpires and AFL over the treatment Fev gets. The treatment Fev cops every week is becoming a joke and we must make a stand ala James Hird.

They should come out publically show support for the unfair treatment Fev cops and show the AFL a highlights pakage of Fevs treatment by the umpires so the next time they are put under pressure to pay free kicks and not ignore them just because it is Fev.

Bring on the Pies

Sparkyblue, when has a player been reported for striking with an arm to an arm.

Won't even get looked at, and if it does them there will be 50 reports this weekend.

What Im worried about is that the contact, even though he withdrew the force in his arm, was below the waistline.

Sensational!

I'm also pretty happy Goodes gets to continue his streak.

Wasn't worried about Fevola, there was nothing in it, but Russell's was a concern. Glad to see common sense prevailing.

The force of the contact was below that which would see the strike categorised as a 'fairy tap'.

How the flower did Goodes get off with a reprimand?

Just incase it hasn't been reported anywhere else (if it has my apologies and please delete this)
Russell: The match day report against Carlton's Jordan Russell was assessed. Russell was reported for making forceful contact from front-on against Port Adelaide's Paul Stewart during the fourth quarter. It was the view of the panel that while it was unfortunate high contact was made, resulting in Stewart having to be assisted from the ground, Russell had no real alternative way to contest the ball. As such, no further action was required.

Fev: Contact between Carlton's Brendan Fevola and Port Adelaide's Alipate Carlile from the second quarter of Sunday's game was assessed. The force of the contact was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.

Good news for the Blues aswell as Rats saying Jamo should be back for the Pies.

Probably cause it was side on and upright rather than head on collision...still shoulda got 1 week though. People have been right in the paper in saying that Goodes is a 'protected species'
