Interesting comment. I would subscribe to opposite point of view for all the reasons I have stated above. In fact I think any Western Australian who supports a Victorian, South Australian, Sydney or Brisbane team

Jeeves, your line of thinking is exactly what the AFL wants. For Sydney residents to support only the Swans, Brisbane to support only the Lions etc.
It's a shallow and ridiculous logic, and is the cause of why support for AFL dives in Sydney when the Swans become crap.
Actually I was talking about Western Australians only but I could include SA supporters in their too. The reasons being historical and the rivalry built up between SA, WA and Victoria over a very long period of time. (See my post. This is the context of the comment I made)

Generally speaking the majority of footy followers from Queensland and NSW don't have that history and really no ties to their own state competition and players so if they go out and support other teams outside of their state then that is understandable.
