overreation by melbelle, I wonder if you would say the same thing if Ang did it?
Regardless, clearly an innocent mistake - if you know where it happened you would sympathise with him.
How many players get speed camera fines and nothing is reported, they don't have to do any community service - neither should fev.
Lets make this clear - this is nothing like S Johnsons 70 over the limit.
I dont care who does it - breaking the law is breaking the law, and yes speed limits around schools are difficult to follow - but there is a reason they are there....have you not seen the latest TAC ad? This time of year Preps are finishing school earlier in the day so 2pm it is likely people will be about.
I think Fev doing community service would be good PR - a great way to turn the story into a positive. He doesn't have many runs on the board (credibility/responsibility) and such an activity would be a good way to highlight his remorse and promote awareness of the issue. I'm not suggesting it as a punishment, I'm suggesting it as an activity that would have a postive outcome for the club, and enhance Fevs reputation.
Fev knows that anything he does is going to be scrutinised - its a double edged sword, it means he gets to earn 200k+ a year to kick a piece of leather, go on the footy show, promote his additional business interests and be exposed to other opportunities that he wouldnt otherwise receive - nevermind thefact that his wife has certainly used that public interest to further her own ambitions.... I dont think anyone held a gun to their head and made them go on ACA.. In return for this you accept that your actions will be scrutinised more than the general public, and players that have a lower media profile.. if you're smart you make sure that there's nothing to scrutinise.
I'm not saying hang him - but I'm not defending his actions either.... simply suggesting that in this situation there are possibilities for smart, effective PR.
