It doesn't matter where we finish. First, last, anywhere in between. Yes we can go the Elliot path and buy a damn good player from another club. Big deal. More than one "Carlton" player is going to be earning mega bucks in the coming years and once they do you are going to be saying "Greedy greedy little pigs with their noses in the troft.. bad culture and need to be eradicated from the footy club if were going to go forwards... Hopefully the next big contract... and i dont know if any one player will get 500k or a mill.. or we will have such a fantastically even side there all on 130k... will deserve his money...

Lets cross that bridge when we get a player worth that kind of money shall we???

Why do you always get caught up on the little stuff???? the stuff that noone but you cares about....

"What do we do when we have to give the next person $500k??" Is that meant to be an intelligent question???cos its not!!!

Each team has a couple.. most produce some dont!! the ones that dont get bagged the ones that do perform are cheered.. thats life!! who the hell cares what we do if they perform???? If they dont perform they get the rotten eggs treatment...!!!!

Are you going to ask me how to tie up shoelaces?? Cos your ridiculous questions to me conjure up verbs in my mind for you...

See, you just don't get it. And you spout on about "intelligence".

I doubt you've actually read anything I've written, and if you have you've definitely failed to comprehend a word of it. Deary me. Take some time to go over the issues being discussed here and try and have a bit of think about what has been said.

Verbs fair dinkum mate!!!......

You'll never win with your ring-a-ring-a-rosie mentality. You'll forever be a bitter whinger supporter. Bagging Bradley now? SOS was a greedy greedy pig too wasn't he. So was that money hungry Sticks. The BASTARDS!!! How dare these guys play well for the club AND get paid for it.

verbs you Einstein ... SoS was paid less than Beaumont and Manton.. because Sos would never leave and he never threatened the club in the same way as the other Carlton greats..
Sos was actually told he would be traded to Richmond for Richo...

Did Bradley train away from the club each pre season yes or no????
well you wouldnt know would you??? Its not a minute enough detail for you to get fixated over..

Youre interested in how we carlton supporters treat the next dud $500k player....

Do you have a butterfly leg collection??

Bitter whineging supporter?? probably cos i care about the club and not ask ridiculous questions about who may or may not get $500k a season in 2010 and how ill he br treated.
ROW material for sure!!!

The Richo thing is straight out of SOS's book. No Einstien factor there brainiac.

And it made no mention of how much Silvagni was getting paid. Silly man.

As for Bradley, of course I knew that...but you're right it was too trivial to matter me...sheesh...you go to the footy and watch dollar signs running around don't you. Silly man.

verbs if you knew the club captain kept holding us to ransom and youre supporting him about contracts and money aged well into his 30s youre the silly man.
As for Sos and his situation??? i know you dont...

Why not speak to Don Hanley about it next time you see him???
theres a guy who might know...
do you think Hanley might have a clue or not???

.... but then again im educating you about how the club was run and youre being all ungrateful cos youre fixated on your own meaningless threads and questions in the hope you might get one over me... silly boy!!!

there are a couple of verbs that remind me of you.... and each time i see your name posting hairsplitters to me they just jump out at me...

Remember our CLUB CAPTAIN negotiated with my club by training away from his team mates and threatening to return to Port.. and i have to revere everything about him???
Youre a fool!! you knew this but wanted to make out i dont love the club... and that ive bagged Bradley and thats unCarlton.. sorry mate our current troubles with culture find their way back to people like Braddley and Williams who still thinks the club should pay his taxes..
There are a heap of examples over the last decade.. so why would i worry about bagging them when they dont perform verbs ????

there is something rotten at the club and you cant sniff it out .. or dont want to..

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA now you're bagging Williams!!

That Makes:
Bradley
Williams
Koutoufides
Camporeale
Whitnall

Our CLUB CAPTAIN???? How may years did he play for? And how many years was he captain? How many contracts did he negotiate whilst he was CLUB CAPTAIN????? You idiot.

"I know, you don't! " You do, don't you    Wow. I am so blown away by how much you know....NOT!!! As if! It's 1am on a Monday morning for crying out loud. Credibility....zero.

Your inflated self worth is sheer comedy, and the longer you go on the more you illustrate, no matter how many times you say "fair dinkum mate", how you've got no idea what I've been talking about...indeed you're continue to spell out exactly what I'm getting at.

Take some reading and comprehension lessons, and then go back to your whinging whining moaner threads you love, they may make more sense then.

im bagging every 500k plus player who is ruining has ruined my club.. im not just not prejudiced!!!

your threads are crap... theyre just dumb.. irrelevant.. stupid... hairplitting meaningless.

why i even respond to your invitations to engage in them is beyond me because they have no relevance to anything but for you.

if a player is worth 500k he is worth it.. if he isnt hes just not.. simple as that... who i bag depends no how they go about squeezing the club and how they perform .
If you cant perform dont ask for it...

i wouldnt give a fupp about bradles anymore.. he isnt important.. whats important is the others that played under him and learnt all they could from him piss off before they contaminate the club any further.. its not like they learnyt how to lead.. but each of them left attended the 'screw the club 101' classes.

Im not looking back.. great weve won 16 flags and we used to have good players our home ground and were rich.. im looking forward for the next one..and how will get good players into the club to do it at our new home ground.

i really cant wait for your next thread.

You have to recognize human nature. Players will try to get as much as they can no matter whether they deserve it or not. Why criticize them for it when the club doesn't blink an eye at putting anyone up for grabs during trade week. Then look at how some of Us are reacting 3-4 years down the track of a big contract and no performance= where is the "loyalty" to the players there? So why should hey return the loyalty back. Its all human nature.

Once you get over the loyalty bit you are on the way to understanding.

Thats when you recognize how important it is that the people that run our club are able to sort the wheat from the chaff. Recognize who are the VITAL gogs and who are the down hill skiiers. More importantly recognise who is indespensible in relation to the list development. IMO you dont pay huge dollars to key forwards when you havent got a midfield that can get it to him. Better to get the midfield right so that the whole team can benefit- which brings your down hill skiiers into the game. Makes them look great, makes them want more $. But if you have a good footy department they see through the down hill skiiers true worth to the club and dont over pay. Easier to replace down hill skiers than true Vital cogs.

Which gets to the point- how many Vital cogs do we have?? I would say close to none.
Fevola- no. is too reliant on others around him
Stevens- possibly- but with the caveat that he is not a true inside midfielder.
Koutta- Probably yes . When he is in full swing and we are getting the clearances his influence is VITAL
French- Based on form this year- Yes. But what is his "true form"
Thornton- getting close. Has the intensity and consistency. A great player but not sure that he is in the elite class that a VC award demands.
Lappin- great player but not sure if he is a VC
Teague- Not able to handle the bigger forwards. Great when the match ups are right.

Identify your VC's and then you know who is worth paying big $ to. Make a mistake and it will crucify you for the next 3-4 years. Identify players out of contract who have the ability to perform week in week out at an elite level and in positions that bring the down hillers into the game, and you have a player worth throwing dollars at. Anything less and you are really just rolling the dice.

there needs to be a performance based aspect bolted on to part of any large contract in my opinion.
you dont go throwing money at blokes who have had a history of not looking after their bodies.
you dont go throwing money at a wingman.

Great in theory Synbad. And I'm all for PBC's- makes perfect sense to me. But you have to battle against player managers who will get in the players ears and play on their insecurites. "why should you sign a performance based contract at Carlton when Collingwood are offering you more money and no performance based component. What if you do your knee next week and your performance is never there- doesnt matter how good you are now son- what about when you get the big injury/"

I think we are saying the same thing aren't we when you talk about wingman and unfit players? I am saying those sorts of players are not Vital Cogs so you dont throw money at them. It all gets back to the ability of the Footy Department ot do their job properly and sort out the VC's from the Down hill skiiers. Get this right and you dont end up throwing money at the wrong players.

The club now is using a formula to attain a plays worth when it comes to CONTRACT (are you counting Mark??) negotiations.. what will happen is if say Fev doesnt take what the club offers him he will be put up for trade to the highest bidder.
Im sure Denis can spot a downhill skiier at 1000 paces.
The non vital cogs will not be overpaid...the vital ones will not be over paid but rewarded more .
Thornton will make a good living playing for Carlton.

That makes one Synbad, oh and by the way the new system is similar to one that was proposed and discussed a while ago. So I know a fair bit about it.

BTW What where your thoughts when we signed those contracts Synbad, did you clap with the rest or where you like me and a couple of others who went 'Oh Oh Salary Cap?'. If you clapped with the rest, then shut up or if you disgreed at the time then you have a point as you have made a trillion times in the last couple of years.

Alot of things cross my mind Mark..stuff like how can these blokes take the money and not care... and how can some people still turn a blind eye..
Stuff does cross my mind BM...... :?

I know you knew all about the new thinggy and i didnt.,. but you werent saying again.. cos people that know dont talk and people that dont know talk......
