i'm not rubbishing abblett, i've stuck up for him more than once in here.
he had so much talent it was a joke.
but he's way off the mark saying he had sos's measure.
and i stand by what i said about him not being a big game player. (except for when geelong lost the GF in 89)
he may have won 100 games off his own boot, but i don't remember any of them being finals
PLEASE tell me you are joking. Ablett's finals series in 89 was probably the greatest finals series by an individual player in history.
Yes, he got towelled up by SOS in 95, but do you people watch finals involving other teams? He was a monster in big games his whole career. Name me one player who didn't have an off day in at least one big match they played in.
The tunnel vision in this thread is staggering. We are talking about one of the top 3 players in the history of the game.
yep, i thought i said that in 89 he was great, not so great the rest of the time imo, that's all.
i'm blinkered, so what?
barry hall is the same, shit hot every game, except when it really counts
synbad beat me to it with the top three comment too

I was responding to your comment that Ablett had a poor finals record.
As I mentioned - his 89 finals series was maybe the best ever by any player.
The bloke takes a stupid shot against SOS and all of a sudden according to this board he apparently wasn't much of a player
. I know we are Carlton but let's get real - he's one of the greatest players to ever pull on a boot. Shame he couldn't be a tenth as good off the park as he was on it.
