I mean we can all go to bed warm and fuzzy at night from the memories of this game.

Set us up for the next 10 years that game did.

Yeah - we could have had pick 8 instead of pick 9 if we lost that game!

Actually it wouldn't have made any difference - win, lose or draw we still would have had pick 9.

Wrong. Had Collingwood beat us and Adelaise won we'd have ended 13th with pick 7. Collingwood won, PA win = pick 8. The way the results came through ended us with pick 9.

I'd rather the team busted their arse to win and miss the PP than to set out with the PP as the final goal. If we bust our arse and lose, then well and good.

Yes those 10 fighting wins set us up beautifully for our sustained period of success for the next 3 seasons.

For those of you that can actually goto the game or watch the game on tv and hope carlton lose for draft picks are not TRUE BLUE BOYs. It should run thru your blood your love for the club.

What would be more appealing? Winning 3 more games this year or getting a number 1 draft pick? I would rather a winning feeling for the boys to go into next year confident.

I think most of the guys on this website called talking carlton/talking rumours.com have a losers attitude and its quite sickening

You all look for this great white hope in every years draft picks.

So we tank this year, get a number 1 draft pick then we tank again next year and year after that?

When you guys actually going to have a winning attitude then this losers attitude?

3-4 more wins this year will set the club up for 2008.

We have got 3 good ruckmen coming thru in the reserves, asiake, jacobs and hampson. So how many more ruck we need.

Brett Ratten said he wants the spirit back in the players. How about we get the spirit back in the supporters? instead of l hope we lose for draft picks, f@#@k that!!

And how many people actually believed that at the time? Shitloads.

In any case I wasn't referring to the 9 previous wins, just Rd 22. Had we been close to a PP at that stage it would have been a real bastard to win by 1 point for both us and them, but as we'd already won 9 games it was inconsequential. You want a bastard win, look at Rd 16 of that year. That disqualified us from the 2004 PP.

If we offload Fev we wont be remunerated half as well as if we can avoid the wins column for the rest of the year. It's easy to think about how a losing culture effects a guy like Murph going into next year, but what about how getting a taste of league footy effects guys like Jacko, Jamo, Grigg and Benjamin? Those who love taking the moral high ground on this issue should get off their high horse and go flower themselves. We all support Carlton and we all want to see sustained success, get over yourselves, you're not better supporters

I think anyone who wants to throw away a 200+ game ruckman (and that is what Kruzer will be) for a few pointless wins at the end of a crappy season, does not truely care about the club.

why... whats your logic.

Instant gratification? Winners attitude?

The season is sunk... might as well get the best possible reward for a wasted season.

I've said it plenty of times and won't waste my breath doing so again.

But to say that someone doesn't care about Carlton because they want them to win is insulting and childish. Hence, bullshit.

Seriously when will we draw the line.... so next year we get to about round 13 or so and we have only won 2-3 ... what then? tank again ??

You are kidding yourselves, thats a great way to keep youngsters.... given half the chance Gibbs, Murphy, Walker and these good young players we have will jump ship and go to a team that is successful and plays to win.

We probably wont beat Collingwood my mind tells me that.... but heaven knows i really really hope we pull a big one out and win. Then all you tossers that want us to lose can sook for the rest of the season. As mentioned before we have ruckmen coming through, we have had high picks and we will still get pick 3 at least... teach the kids to win and get them enthusiastic about playing for our club. Thats what will hold us in good stead in the future not continual losing. Arent you people sick of Carlton losing ????

Lets throw away a 12 year player so that a couple of our supporters can get themselves a woody... and then watch it go down next week...
Every week I turn on the TV, radio or go to the game wanting to win desperately. If we get smashed I'm shattered, if we come close I'm pleased for the improvement but if we win I'm wrapped.

5 more losses gives us the priority - that's a silver lining, not the plan.
Well said The Duke.

And I am absolutely stunned that any red-blooded Carlton would think that a win against Collingwood is Meaningless.

I have been a Blues supporter of over 40 years and will never agree with that sentiment

Yes bring out the form fours.. you remember those though dont you???

Id be stunned if you didnt....

Because if you do remember those.. youd remember we used those brilliantly to bring in the kinds of players you loved and gave us 8 premierships in your lifetime..
How many premierships have you seen where we were no longer allowed to pull them out and use the system???

When you can answer this in a meaningful manner ill go along with any other old fashioned view of footy you might have.

What you dont understand... is footy like we knew it is finished!
No home suburban ground
No form fours.
No zones..

You have to buy your seat in the same venue as everyobody else.
You have to draft your kids from the same pool as everybody else...
The only advantage you have to improve your list is the pp whilst you can expolit it.

the AFL have created this.. and just like before you still must beb smart enough to exploit the system youre in to win PREMIERSHIPS.. not win meaningless games of football.!

I hate Collingwood as much as anyone here...

However we all should be looking at the long term future of the club!

If we do the correct things and don’t rush the clubs development, we will have 10 years to destroy Collingwood in every game that we play them. As well as dismantling every other team in the competition...

I want a 17th Premiership and by losing a few meaningless games this season we will be so much closer to a Premiership!

To win the match or lose?

Don't get too caught up in this debate, I don't think were good enough to win, though I really don't want to shatter anybodies dream. I'll enjoy barracking but a win will be unexpected.

We are too young and small bodied to win this one. They have a lot more to play for. If we do win i wont complain but i can take this loss.

Hope ratts gets the best out of the team.
