It cracks me up that what I said cracks you up given the title of my thread. Rumour is simply that. Do with it what you will.

Just on Ch 7 news in Brisbane.
Voss flew in to Melbourne today to be interviewed for Carlton Coaching position.
Suggested he has already been offered job.
Anyone know anymore?

Ratts is also chasing other jobs. He's professional enough to realise that the club will be interviewing other candidates.

I think if you read between the lines Ratts has taken the next six weeks as being his only chance of coaching us long term.

He wins four or more and he is looking the goods (but the club may have already appointed someone)

Do people really, seriously think that the club WANTS to win another game this year?

Seriously

Ratten would. He's coaching for his career here, probably somewhere other than Carlton. Unless he's guaranteed the job here next year, which he isn't, he can't afford a 0-6, tankling or not. That type of result will make it hard for him to get any gig at any time. I'm not sure tanking's going to be an issue here just by his very appointment.

If the rumour is true and Voss has got the job, I think it's pathetic. What happened to a proper/transparant process. Interviewing all candidates and giving everyone the same opportunity. Also what about giving Ratten the opportunity to show his worth. If he gets the team to play solid competitive football in the next 6 weeks, shouldnt that help his cause? Thats why I find it VERY hard to believe.

I really don't have a preference for coach. All I do have a preference for is putting in place the right process for selecting the coach. Certainly that wasn't the case when DP was selected and look at what the results were there.

Voss is the man, Swanny knows all about Mckenna much more than a one hour powerpoint presentation about game plans, Wallsy spoke to almost every coach in the AFL last year for the Saints job, and has sat through many games with Vossy on Ten this year, and frankly you will not get Roos, Worsfold or Matthews, but don't assume they weren't approached.
The idea of having them arrive in a taxi at Royal parade and pretend you are looking for a new accountant is fine, but really just a stunt, to pretend to be professional when you pay Malcom Blight one million dollars to walk away disinterested. Basically it's never been the Carlton way, don't think Swanny suited up with his CV a few months ago from memory
Voss is a once in lifetime opportunity, most respected player of the modern game, captained three premierships and shown much from master coach Lethal during his many injured days in the box, recently out of the game and a great communicator which is paramount these days but like Pagan has proven to be, not a miracle healer with a list of crap players and the rest with crap attitudes.

So....you're saying Walls has given Voss the approval?

Josh K. has indicated that Voss has the job in a few of his posts in other threads and that Wallsy was part of that process and the decision was ratified by the Board on Monday night.
