Thanks for the info Wangers.

Glad to hear Grigg, Bower and Kennedy (and hopefully Walker) will be included this week. If we miss the PP on the back of good performances from our youngsters it would reduce the disappointment somewhat.
Also very happy to hear that the redevelopment works will commence in August - Great News!

On the development coach how much money would Alan McConnell cost us to leave the AIS Academy?

I noticed Alan in deep conversation with Rod Ashman when I visited MC Hammer Park to check out the Qld v NSW U18 game recently - coincidence?

So anyway, good news about the development coach. Will contemplate ins and outs in the Carlton vs Melbourne thread.

Great read. Thank you for the insight!

Excellent to hear Grigg, Bower, and Kennedy are coming into the side.

I believe Wiggo will be one of the outs. I saw him at Nab oval on Tuesday and he looked really down. Seems to me he had some bad news....

To be honest a few of our players looked down. Jacobs looked like he was enjoying himself though.

I think a development coach would come from our past players group. There are a few players who could teach the kids a thing or two and talk about what's required to be an AFL footballer. Ashman, Hickmott, Silvagni, perhaps even David Teague and Koutoufides are just a few and there are probably a lot of other ex-players who the club should approach.

Development Coach. Sounds like the perfect gig for Peter Dean.

It does seem like a role that Kouta could easily slide into next year. Ashman would be an inspired choice. That guy knows how to talk to young players.

I need a defintion of what development means in the context of football.

Is it footy skills or life skills?

Some of the questions were:

Another question was name the coaches of 1967, 1977, 1987, 1997, 2007 - this was easy except for 1977 (I.Thorogood) although apparently it was also Ian Stewart as well, but Blueseum only listed one for 1977?

The Blueseum lists Stewart as 1978 only, in fact, the first 3 games of 1978 .

I think the whole 1978 Coaching roundabout with 3 Gents having the role needs the careful written elaboration of someone from this site for the Blueseum (before my time).

My memory is that Stewart didn't coach us till 1978 and Thorogood definitely completed 1977 season. Stewie lasted a few games, got most of the players offside, and then had an alleged heart attack

I think the rumours about Stewart and his sudden departure may be best left unsaid.
