I was in the car this morning and tuned in to SEN which I wouldn't normally do as I quite value my brain cells.

They were discussing Carlton's strategy to bring in a bunch of GWS players who aren't getting a game and said it was a good one but that Carlton supporters would have to understand that these guys might not make any impact in the short term and that we'd need to be patient.

This was a minute after saying that you could understand that Carlton supporters would be nervous as the deal for Jaksch, Whiley and pick 19 had clearly been a disaster.

These guys get paid to talk this shit.

:screwy:

It's been the cliche narrative. Barrett ran with the same thing in his sliding doors piece.

Apparently Hawthorn were geniuses to get O'Rourke a former pick #2 at #19 last year, but we are recycling 2nd's players to get a former #3 and the rest of the platter for #20......

Group think is a generous description for what they produce.

Be careful where you aim any accusations of groupthink. I think people are using the term out of context.

Our trading and drafting last year was beyond bad and I can with confidence tell you the board were horrified with what we did.

Boekhorst looks ok, good mover with good kicking skills, just needs to work on the body and tank.

Jaksch also looks good, again like Boekhorst needs a few more years to build the body.

Whiley is no good.

Fans have no patience these days.

My point wasn't whether it was good or bad it was that they're telling Carlton fans to be patient with the GWS players we pick up during this trade period and in the same breath saying that Jaksch and Whiley was a bust.

No @#$%&! idea.

Explain to me how they are saying Whiley and Jacksh are a bust? Confused about that one.

Also just on Mckay, wouldn't we need to be less patient with GWS players who are 22 as opposed to the draft picks which would take longer to develop?

22 yr old, 188cm 86kg. Pick 27 back in 2011 draft.. Same draft as Watson..
Played 20 odd games, midfielder/half forward. 3rd/4th round at best..
If we are letting Casboult go, maybe Schache will be number 1 not Weitering????
