Bell had a pretty good finish to the season last year.
He (reportedly) has been starring on the track and in the intra club game.
He was BOG or 2nd BOG in our first serious hit out. Some of his stuff was fantastic. His clearance in the third quarter where he just burst through the pack and I think kicked a goal was exactly what we want in a mid.
I think the people who are accusing Bondi of having no idea think he is UNDERESTIMATING Bell's potential for 2014.
Of course it he doesn't win the Brownlow they'll be screaming, 'we told you he was a slow plodder'.
Hang on, Judd won the Brownlow and he's a slow plodder.
Deisel....
Watson, then...
Ablett?
I know, Black! Now he's seriously quick. Isn't he?
Vossy?
Buckley was pretty slippery, though.
It just goes to show that the best players have to be lightning quick to be good. Not.
Bell will never be any of those but he will play footy for us and he won't leave anything in the dressing room when he does.
Thanks BS for giving us some facts to consider.
I've spoken with a couple of Carlton people....premiership player and player...and they suggested that Bell types are what you need in the heat of the battle especially in the middle.
Big arse you can't get around....Diesel, Kouta...plenty of other great footballers.
Tough...can take punishment and keep going
Hard...can inflict pain that wears the opponent physically and mentally
Endurance....is still going when fatigue sets in for many...can kick a long goal in the last.
No one can say exactly what potential can become, but this kid shows signs of the type we have needed for a long long time, and one who can excel against the best...in the last 4 weeks of September.
That's all I'm saying and it's not just my belief. I look at he future with interest.
Saying the signs are not there suggests to be one is viewing Bell with blinkers.
Wouldn't be surprised in Lucifer is one of those in the stands who openly bags his own.
Lets hope Bell delivers. So far, he signs are good.
BOG is a good start...look out Port!
