Great move by Ratts, putting Houlihan up forward. ;-)

In fairness, we've known that's his most damaging position for about 10 years...

Dont be lulled into a false sense of security by the blues performance on Saturday! Ratten must go immediately to replaced by a caretaker coach.
Paul Roos must be contracted to coach Carlton next season if we want to develope Lucas Gibbs Kreuzer and Murphy.
The omission opf Waite was unfortunate he needs to be left in one position if he is to find confidence.

Ratten most go immediatly Carlton are waisting valuable time leaving him in the job

In the end we have to give Ratts the season proper (I am on the fence but am leaning towards the get rid of him brigade) ... no point in a caretaker coach at this point!

Just do not see the killer instinct in him but will be happy to eat humble pie if I am wrong.

What I would like to see is Mathews at the helm ... I think we should throw the kitchen sink at him ... our list reminds me a bit of Brisbane`s list when he took over all we need is a decent forward and Mathews. With our salary cap space me thinks both could be possible BUT if Ratts pulls it out well then it will be pie with ice cream for me at the end of the season

Mathews - did anyone hear the chat before one of the games (was it the freo game?) where apparently Mathews was reported to have said gameplans was a media myth. It all comes down to getting the ball and using the ball well. He'd go down a treat here wouldn't he.

He's obviously putting it in simple terms but in reality, he's correct. A "gameplan" is the vision a coach/coaching group has for playing the game. It's not a diagram or a handbook the players take home to study. Players train to react a preferred way in varying game scenarios. It's about coaching players to make correct or preferred decisions which will be predictable to their team mates. If the players are well honed by quality, relevant game sense drills, hopefully they have the required information to perform accordingly.
It all comes down to having the skill to execute from there.

what kind of gameplan is that?

I want x (dotted line) to y dotted line to either (dotted lines) a or b (with a faint dotted line to c) and lots of coloured coding and some really fancy phrases like

the walking crane play

the leap frog play

the maypole, turning your aunt inside out, she's only your sister after all, play.

When you've got Black, Lappin, Voss and Akermanis and Power winning the ball and feeding it to Lynch and Brown and Bradshaw... you don't need to concoct a gameplan. It's just staring you in the face.

I can understand what Leigh Matthews is saying, and in part it is true. If you don't have the better skills, then you don't win. Simple.

I want to know what the major difference was between the game against the bombers and last weekends gamplan?

IMO all we did this week was hit our targets with kicks along the boundary line once more.

It makes me wonder why after the bombers game that Ratts comes out and says players were instructed to use the corridor more yet on the weekend i could not see any change to what we normally do which is chip away around the line.

If the crows had have kicked straight we would have been under alot more preasure than we were in the 3rd term when we didnt look like scoring.

If we play the same on Monday then the cats will smash us. We must take the game on more like we did when we played them and the saints last year.
Play on as soon as a mark is taken and dont be afraid to use the corridor and catch the cats who zone off on the hop!

Please Ratts be bold and dont continue with this around the boundary line tempo crap.

You know,
if you read this with a New Zealand accent,
it says....
Should we sic Rutten.
Which is kind of interesting,
cos we sort of did on Saturday didn't we?

Anyway....
I digress. :?

Fantastic idea!....as Roos is committed to be living in the U.S. after this year.....he can coach us by a video hookup!

Oh.....and Waite....(who was ordinary for the Bullants) limped off the ground; favouring his knee.

Not as specific as Mars. From Outer Space, IIRC.
