Sack him and make sure he is deported.

I'm not to sure how it works but can an Australian be deported from Australia.

Shouldn't have done it, played into Ratts hands, and it wasnt a kick, it was just a foot in the ass as a reminder not to mess with him.

Still, should have left it at the punch.

there you go folks, exhibit A. It's Rattens fault, Beano , beano, beano - when will you learn?

*snip*
what?
It's Setanta's fault, plain and simple. However you cant explain what happens sometimes when you lose it and the red mist comes down. I NEVER once said it was Rattens fault, did I?
I SAID, it played into his hands, gave him what he wanted, i.e. an excuse.

Flowering low act. He's got to live with it and he'll be reminded about it by the opposition.

Worst part ..... the game only lasted 3 quarters. Hopefully out last quarters won't fizzle out this year.

Agree with the final act of temper part 100%, in a row I have done the same, I would never kick someone who was down, but a final shove or toe poke to say up yours, in my low opinion no doubt, is not a kick and not meant as one.

I would like to ask one question, obviously Setanta is not as good as Fev, thats a given, however if Fev can go off teh rails, albeit in a different way but more often, does the club or anyone here think it sends out the right or a good message to everyone else, if you kick 10 goals a game, act up, if not, toe the line, and if I have this wrong I would love to hear, constructively KK and the likes.

Totally different situations to compare. Fev hasn't punched his teammate in the head, then kicked him while down.

If Fev did what Carlos did I'd be venting the same anger, would the MC have suspended him indefinately? I would think they would of sacked him with his record.

Ah, Beano, you've picked it in one.

The double standards of the modern footy club. "Valuable" players, like Fev, Cousins, Didak etc will always be cut more slack than "non-essential ones".

I don't think it's necessarily right, but that's just the way it is.

JUST.CALM.DOWN.

EVERYONE.

For the last month I have been very happy because everyone in media land were only talking about us in glowing terms. We have to just starve this story of oxygen and focus on football. Explain to me how jon ralph writes 3 stories on the same topic spouting the same bile against carlton in the saturday HS? 3 stories? saying the same things? what kind of journalism is that?

there is an agenda here and plenty of people out there have been literally GAGGING to stick the boot in. the fact is apart from carrot's injury and an over zealous defensive blunder it was a flowering good session. we should be happy with that, let this be taken care of in the correct way, have those serve their sentences and move the flower on. not ignore it, just give it the attention it deserves.

come on people, this is not as bad as they want us to believe. NO sackings, NO lynch mobs and NO hissy fits.

go blues

Now when i first saw the footage i thought, get rid of setanta straightaway

Then after seeing the replay about 20 times and in slow mo, it doesnt look as bad as i first thought.

Now he only gave a short right hand punch to clokes head, followed up with a left hand that didnt even connect with the fist, hit him side on with the hand to the bottom jaw area. Correct me if im wrong.
The kick was a dogs act, shouldnt of done it, but in that white line fever, i dont think he was thinking straight.

I'm not supporting Setantas actions, but its not the first time footy players have fights. I think Dean Rice or Greg Williams got in tiffs when they first come to the club. Then u got other teams with same issues. I think a couple west coast players had a tiff last year aswell. Also, brothers and sisters always have fights, but next day they are back to normal and happy family again.

If Setanta can get counselling, get his head straight, have all the support of players and cloke is happy for him to play, then don't sack him, only makes carlton suffer. Last thing we need is all our talls to get injured and not have anyone available.

You never know, Cloke might of said something to him that got him to throw a punch.

IF there was no footy footage, it would of been swept under the table in a week and no one would care.

The good thing about what happened, if Setanta continues to play, theres going to be a lot of opposition players crapping their pants if he gets that angry look :)

Both Matthews and Buckely say nothing much to it. Enough for Carlton to worry about and deal with internally, but questioned whether clubs would have have official umps in practice games from now on.

Matthews said 2-3 weeks, and Buckley thought an internal issue.

Wise words

Do you mean was I there when it happened? No. But by this point, I doubt there's many who haven't seen it.

I just how the kick on the ass is the big issue, not that he throw two punches, one connected and the other one hit side on. But it is all about the kick :)

If he didnt kick would anyone care?

And Caro finds another way to insert an O'hAilpin reference.

Check this out, last paragraph of the article. Pretty dubious piece of writing I would have thought, not even 'clever'.
