don't forget Sam Jacobs..... we could finally have the 280cm ruckman we've been looking for

Two things that may be of interest:

1-some bloke called 3aw today and said that Roos was a done deal for next year @ 1.2mil. Think he had his hand on it :-D :-D :-D

2-Braddles on SEN tonight said the reason he was an assistant coach, was because he wanted to be a senior coach
After he'd gone Brittan, said that he rated Braddles ahead of Ratts when it came to footy knowledge and potential coaching ability.
Are we looking in the wrong areas for our next coach :?: :?: :?:

Braddles would be great coach as well.
He would be fantastic with the kids in regards to development and is smart enough to understand that the modern game is about pace - something our current pig headed coach is unaware of

If it isn't already in action, I hope the club is launching a full scale operation to find our next coach. Whether is symbolic, a freshen up or an irradication of incompetance - this club needs to move forward into a post Pagan era, because this level of stagnation is completely unacceptable and explanations of draft penalties are no longer an excuse.

Synbad, I will be giving you life exclusion from bans or warnings if your mail that Round8 would decide Pagan's future proves correct.

PS: Not sure about the other mods though

Roos has 2 years to guide Voss and rebuild the team with youth (nothing to lose)... and can then retire onto bigger and better things

And Voss comes in ready to roll with Gibbs, Murphy et.al all at the top of their games

WIN WIN!

No way! I wouldn't let Roos anywhere near these boys. Fev would go nuts!!

We'd bring the ball in from full back and kick to the pocket, back to FB, across to the HBF and back to the pocket, out to CHB and into the centre before going sideways to the wing and onto the HFF. Stop there and chip it back to the HBF and then on to the HFF before turning it over and watching the opposition kick it down in 3 moves and score a goal  .

I'd rather have DP thanks. I'd rather play another 12 months of losing but sexy footy than that sh1t!

Barry Hall goes ok with it.

Come on guys, give Roos a bit of credit. He realises he has the team to play that style of football in Sydney. He'd adapt his style to suit the players he had at Carlton.

Not too sure that would be the case TBB, did you check out the aints v dawks game tonight. Lyon has turned the aints from an exciting underachieving team to a pathetic excuse of an underachieving team by trying to get them to play the same style of football as Sydney.

I'm afraid i'm in the camp that says its ingrained in their minds and would find it extremely hard to change what has been otherwise pretty successful tactics. Fortunately i think teams have started to come up with a flooding antidote, well the better teams anyway

Looks like the Roos gameplan might not translate too well to teams without the 'bloods' mindset.

Or those with most of the back 6 out

On a serious note, should we consider Chris Bond and Darryn Cresswell?

If you had the choice would you go with...

a. Roos and win lots of games playing possibly not-so-attractive football

or

b. Pagan and lose every week playing shoot-out attacking football

I think winning - no matter how it's done - is far more attractive to watch.

I'm bored watching us lose week after week for 5 years.

Its never going to be those 2 extremes but I'd take attacking football. The problem is we dont play attacking football. We play half assed attacking football. If we were playing a truely attacking game - whitnall would be forward ALL the time, our youngsters would be backed in to win contests/perform rather than tagging etc etc etc

Tyrant - I reckon Dick won't be interviewing too many for the job. Some people can talk their way into anything but achieve jack sh#t on the job.

I'll ask you this. How many people were interviewed for the CEO job? How many were interviewed for the Footy Managers job?

Dick makes up his mind by calling people behind the scenes and asking them the direct question. He did it with Swann and was told that he's your man.

I'd suggest the next coach of Carlton won't be put through a rigorous selection process. It's not Dicks way. He will call the right people behind the scenes and he will be told whether this bloke is right for coaching our club.

I get the feeling that people tend to tell the truth when asked a direct question by Dick. For instance, iIf Dick wanted to know whether Voss is the right man for the job, then a simple phone call to Leigh Matthews will suffice. Leigh is astute enough to have already seen and judged whether Voss has the tactical nous, the people management skills, the leadership skills to be a top line coach. I'd say Leigh Matthews will call it as he sees it.

That's all it takes. No need to hire a Recruiting firm to tell you the obvious. If we had hired a Recruiting firm to find us the new CEO, we'd still be going through 'the interview' process.

McKenna is a monty for Freo next year

Ratts has me worried after his remark last night saying he thought is was a terrific move to put Setanta in the ruck last week. Shocking move IMO. Leave him to develop as our full back.

Braddles finally putting his hand up last night was very interesting.

I have no idea about Roos' willingness to move or Voss's potential game plan but I would have thought the so-called Sydney-style of play that oos instigated was simply the best way Roos was able to utilise the players he had at his disposal. Give Roos a different set of players and you would see a different game plan.

Unfortunately, this idea hasn't yet presented itself to Denis.

Matthews last night on Before the game said he thought Vossy might be a guy who could go straight in to coaching - or something like that.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, i'm gonna have to Disagre.

I loved this move and it's the only decent thing Pagan has done all bloody year.
In fact, its the ONLY decent thing pagan has done for a long time.

Kennedy is never gonna be a ruckman. He has no leap and is 195cm.
I'd rather just let him develop as a Full Forward/CHF rather than confuse the poor kid.

Setanta is 199cm and has a leap that will see him being able to go with the 200+cm ruckman.

See this is why i'd just play Aisakie now. We want him to develop as a ruckman and we have just lost our 2nd & 3rd back up ruckmen. Why not play him?

And don't give me this 'he's not ready' bullshit. PLAY HIM and find out. If he hasn't done anything in a couple of games THEN you can tell me if he's ready or not.
