Listening to McKay interview we are adopting the Hawthorn model in terms of players we are after; Good kicks, good decision makers.
It sounds pretty basic but if you look at our list we have a few holes to fill.

Sounds a little boring. Wouldn't you just end up with a bunch of players who can kick properly and consistently hit targets?

I think I prefer our tried and tested model where we get players who can't kick but whose coaches - who couldn't teach them to kick - assure us are "very coachable". That way, every kick is an intriguing mystery.

We would be crazy to take that ... both those players are worth that pick alone ... what did Dawes get traded for from Collingwood to Melbourne ... pick 20 ? ... I would have Casboult over Dawes

Also with Bell Brisbane they will never have a "go home" issue with him and therefore based on that and ability he is a pick 21

This was all so much easier when we just payed overs for somebody else's wantaway then pumped them up as the new messiah over the off-season, what happened to that plan. We all felt great about our prospects from October to April each year.

Pick 21 for Plowman and Phillips, that's a win..

I don't understand why the excitement for Plowman and Phillips.

Failed? Please explain.

Plowman will be best 22 from round 1 as a rebounding defender.

Phillips will end up first ruck if Kreuzer gets injured. Ask yourself Phillips or Warnock? That's who he is replacing.

Also add into that deal Lamb and Sumner most likely who would be the comparisons to Bell.

Good deal IMO. Add depth and fill holes for the loss of two good C graders, in other words the deal improves our list if it's turns out this way.

The normal one, spot on...
Kreuzer and Phillips, good combo.
Have seen Plowman and Phillips play, they both can play and SOS knows there work ethic.
Wood and Warnock are both not up to it.
Add Plowman and Weitering into our backline, two young quality players and both good kids with the additude to match.
My question is, will Bell every become an A or B grade player?? Skills are average at best, decision making??
Casboults marking is A grade but the kicking side of things??
We are years away and the club is looking at this long term.
If we receive the tigers first pick (12), every chance a quality tall will be available.
Who are the dogs tall key forwards??
The team should be built around kids with skill, work ethic and attitude.
We have some many average players like Bell and Casboult hence where we finished...
Take pick 1, 12 and Plowman/Phillips/Lamb and hopefully Rice, build from there..
Reckon Lamb will be part of the trade as well..
Again just my opinion. Guess we all can have our own opinion..

:thumbsup:

Agree with all of that.

The remark that McKay made that I think is important is that they are looking for kids who 'want' to play for Carlton. We need to play with some controlled aggression and passion. I haven't seen that for way too long.

Couldn't be gladder soft cocks yarran and Henderson have pulled the pin. Yaz is a perfect fit for Richmond, gets to play a final but still goes on holiday early. Lachie can be closer to his mum so she can rub his back when he has a cough. SOS swap these 2 90's Nintendo kids for 2 kids with talent and ticker and we're 300% better off.
Now give me the flower microphone.

What were they saying about Tom Boyd at this stage of last year's trade period?

If Jaksch and Whiley's performance at Carlton are any guide why would we bother with Plowman, Lamb, Phillips, Sumner etc? None of these guys could manage regular spots in an emerging side, whether it be through injury or form and now it appears we are picking over the scraps from GWS again. Phillips as a ruckman maybe, after all Warnock is shot. Plowman as a tall defender, hmmm, maybe, its not like we are blessed with this at the moment. Summary from 2015 below:

* Sumner 0 games 2015
* Plowman 2 games 2015
* Phillips 4 games 2015
* Lamb 2 games 2015.

SOS failed once getting these boys to GWS and now he seems intent on giving them a 2nd chance. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me?
I hope it is all smoke and mirrors and we don't sell the farm to bring in guys who have effectively failed first time around.
Just off load Yarran and Henderson and go to the freaking draft - EARLY.
