The issue for the club is:

Was his phone hacked?

Because that's Sayers categoric response. If the answer to that is NO. then the fact he has been adamant he was hacked has to make it sackable.

Agree that there needs to be due process, but the silence by the club and Sayers is bitterly disappointing.

I would have expected Cook to have spoken publicly as well.

Why hasn't the club hasn't said something like: We acknowledge what a shit show this is, we have asked the AFL Integrity Unit and the Police to investigate. While the investigation is in ongoing Luke will be standing down from his official duties. We're not saying anything more until we've got something to say.

Silence is deafening. And seeing an insta post about the Run 4 Respect event coming up was reminder of how poorly the club has handled this. Of course, we have NFI what is going on behind the scenes, but judging things on face value, I'm sorry to say it's been a fail to this point.

I don’t think any of the media outlets has mentioned ‘phone’ at any stage.

Sayers himself posted that his ‘account’ had been hacked. Hence the inside job theories, since he still had access to disable the account approx 10min after the image was posted.

Until he says otherwise, it’s still his cock in the photo. And if it wasn’t him, the misso or his scout master that posted the photo, then he must be the sort of bloke that sends photos of his dick to people.

Is this our king?

AFL statement re Luke Sayers:

The AFL has today concluded its inquiries into a public social media post on Carlton President Luke Sayers’ personal X account.

An image was briefly posted on 8 January 2025 with the public post ‘tagging’ an executive from one of the club’s corporate partners.

The Carlton Football Club and the AFL became aware of the matter shortly after the post appeared with the AFL integrity unit making enquiries and providing appropriate assistance and support to those affected.

The AFL has been in ongoing contact with Mr Sayers and his representatives, the Carlton Football Club and the club’s corporate partner including the executive tagged in the post, who have all assisted the AFL in its inquiries.

The Integrity Unit’s inquiries, which included multiple interviews and review of other evidence, have now concluded and the AFL has found, based on the available evidence, that access to Mr Sayers’ X account was compromised, resulting in the posting of the image (i.e. by a person not being Mr Sayers) and tagging of another person.

Accordingly, the AFL has determined that Mr Sayers did not breach AFL Rules in connection with the posting of the image.

Once he was made aware of the post, Mr Sayers immediately acted to have the image removed and to shut down his X account.

The AFL wishes to thank the executive who was unwittingly tagged in the post, her cooperation and assistance throughout the inquiries have been extremely helpful.

The AFL takes all matters of respect and responsibility seriously and when alerted to matters of concern there are professional processes in place to triage and work through such matters. These matters are very sensitive in nature, and we acknowledge the effect and distress caused to numerous individuals beyond those bound by the AFL Rules and Regulations.

Make of that what you will................

GAWN…

[email from club just now]

https://www.carltonfc.com.au/news/17091 ... uke-sayers

The Carlton Football Club today confirms that after 12 years serving as a Director, including three as President, Luke Sayers has today informed the Board that he will step down from his role as President, effective immediately.

In relation to the matter involving President Luke Sayers’ social media account, the Club has continued to cooperate and liaise with the AFL Integrity Unit and since notifying the AFL Integrity Unit of the matter, has continued to connect with those involved, including individuals and corporate partners to provide ongoing care and support.

Alongside the conclusion of the AFL Integrity Unit inquiry, and in line with the Club's Workplace Integrity and Cultural Safety framework, the Club established a process led by Christopher Townshend KC, to ensure the Club gathered an informed and impartial understanding of the matter.

The Club respects the AFL Integrity Unit process, and in line with club policies, considered it appropriate to enact its own fair and due process, where independent oversight was important to support confidentiality of all involved and act in a manner that is genuine, fair and acknowledges the sensitivities of the matter to all persons affected.

The Club has now reviewed the AFL Integrity Unit’s findings, which based on the available evidence, declare that access to Mr Sayers’ X account was compromised, resulting in the posting of the image (i.e. by a person not being Mr Sayers) and tagging of another person.

Accordingly, the AFL has determined that Mr Sayers did not breach AFL Rules in connection with the posting of the image.

While considering all relevant details relating to the matter and despite no finding of wrongdoing via the AFL Integrity Unit and the Club’s independent process, in the best interests of the Club Sayers has made the decision to stand down from the Board and will continue to prioritise time with his family.

As President of the Carlton Football Club and in Sayers’ time as a Director prior, he has made an invaluable contribution, serving the Club with passion and dedication, which has left the Club in a significantly stronger position on and off the field.

“Leading the Carlton Football Club has been one of the great honours and privileges of my life,” Sayers said.

“I leave knowing the Club is in great shape, and with my deepest gratitude for its understanding and support.

“I deeply regret that many other people including my family, friends and colleagues and football club have been caught up in this matter,” he said.

Co Vice Presidents Robert Priestley and Patty Kinnersly thanked Sayers for his contribution to the Club, acknowledging his tenure over 12 years.

“On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, we would like to sincerely thank Luke for his significant service to the Club and for playing an integral role in setting the Club up for success and steering the Club in the strong position it now finds itself in.

Vice-Presidents Robert Priestley and Patty Kinnersly will jointly assume the role and responsibilities of President in an interim capacity, while the Board conducts the process of appointing a President in a permanent capacity.

The Club acknowledges the effect this matter has on individuals and the suffering that has been caused for those involved is deeply distressing, and the Club will continue to provide ongoing support and care to those impacted.

The Club now considers the matter closed and requests the privacy of impacted parties to be respected, mindful of the wellbeing consequence this matter has had on those involved.

The Club continues its focus on its preparations ahead of its respective AFL and AFLW seasons in 2025.

Good, let's move back on with arguing about injury management and fretting about TDK re-signing.

The key phrase for me was that it was compromised and he didn’t send it.

I have no idea what happened, it would be unfair to speculate

So it wasn’t his dick according to the AFL integrity unit which is the ultimate wet lettuce leaf but resigns 5 minutes later.
Pushed by CFC the AFL or both

Bottom line is Sayers was a relic from our past
He wasn’t the type of President we needed now
That’s because his character had to come into question in regards to the PWC tax scandals where he came out of that relatively unscathed compared to others below him

His quest to get Ross Lyon to coach Carlton was outdated and plain dumbarse

Patty Kinnersly hopefully sends us into a new positive direction if appointed
I don’t want Fitzpatrick as someone alluded to
Another relic past his used by date
Embarrassingly so the club looks pretty pathetic now
But it could have all been avoided if he wasn’t President in the first place

They never said that.

Only that the image was posted by someone other than him.

IF the integrity unit found his account was "compromised", how is it even remotely possible, he was able to access the account again afterwards????

Compromised doesn't mean hacked, it just means that someone was able to access his account, which makes sense.

Refer to my post a page or two back - I believe my theory is correct.
