The last president won premierships because he demanded success at Carlton.
The issue was the members fell for the bulldust spread by so called Carlton people who drowned us to where we are today, especially as they were the ones behind a lot of our cap manipulation. Walked away a hero!!!!
I'm still waiting for the new age people and system to get us success, some little success would do!!!
That tells me more who was right and who is wrong.
Elliot was prepared to fight the AFL Commission, instead of rolling over to die.
It was wasn't a case of the President who fought with the AFL, it was a case of the AFL insider, Collins, who sold us out to who he thought were his mates.
Classic case of divide and conquer. Collins says he nearly cried when he was shafted...till he looked at his bank account.
Sometimes you have to stand up for what's right. I cant see anything over the last 20 years to suggest a pat on the back let alone any reward from the AFL Commission for playing along with the unprecedented penalties Carlton copped for being open and honest.
Here' s just a couple of hundreds of AFL decisions to go against us in last 2 decades:
Priority picks rules changed when we had opportunity to get 2 first rounders (after Pies got Thomas and Pendlebury after tanking)...
Tribunal decisions see Plowman and Prendergast decisions to make an example (but never applied rulings again). Carlton guinea pigs.....
Holding the ball rule changed our midfield strengths with cripps and Walsh.....
Ruck rules changed when TDK leaves carlton and we havent had time to move on from the Traditional Plodding big ruckman....
Draft rules changes after Brizzy, GCS and Pies got their players with late picks... we paid 2 firsts for Dean, now want to make it harder and taxing to get walker.....
Just stating the facts. It just doesnt stop. We have to show some strength and put fear back onto the AFL Commissioners. They prefer no conflict. Well, there is conflict with their decision making: where's the fair runway?
Nah, I'm sick of the AFL and I'm sick of seeing a meek carlton kicked whenever the AFL sees an opportunity. Bring on the Lawyers. AFL haven't got a leg to stand on.
