I don't like playing 3 midgets in the forward line, and have a feel Motlop will joining Fogarty and Owies in the forward mix.

I really hope Hollands is selected. Might be sub, incase Acres shoulder becomes unbearable, but prefer Hollands on the ground against Langdon.

Kennedy would keep Lever honest.

Agreed with Hollands-Langdon, I think that's a good matchup.

I was thinking the other day about how last year I identified Ed Langdon as my first choice to the "if you could poach one player from any team..." question. My other choices were Toby Greene and Tim English. I'd still be keen on the latter two, but Langdon has really dropped in my estimation this year, and not just because we are now strong on the wings. I don't know if his form has dropped, but I'm spotting more weaknesses in his game this year... doesn't always go when it's his turn, doesn't apply great defensive pressure, isn't particularly damaging in possession. Still an amazing runner, but so are Hollands and Acres. On this season's evidence, the player I'd want to poach above all others is Zac Bailey - fast, tough, versatile, huge kick, major goal threat. Tick-tick-tick-tick-tick.

Seems we will go in with Kennedy Motlop & Hollands. I like it

Kennedy can play forward, take a mark, can tackle and can shut down Lever if needed.

Key for me is how we deliver inside forward 50. If a players isn't clear, chaos ball should be the go. Let our smalls go to work and lock it in at worst. Can't allow May/Lever to chop it off and rebound.

For me keeping Lever and May out of it happens before the kick inside 50. We need to use the extra short passes and hand passes to change lanes. Exactly what we were doing between first GC game up until the 2nd St Kilda game. Since then that sort of ball movement has dried up. Either teams have worked out how to stop it or our players have tightened up with games having more consequences. We have also ran out of juice fitness wise. Back to only playing our best for short periods of games. Next year we have to have top 4 secured early so we can train up for finals and hit the ground running.

Talk Melbourne is going to play a smaller forward line

If that happens can we go in with Weitering McGovern Marchbank Kemp Newman? Do we give Fisher another go for more run or send Docherty back?

Same defensive group as last week.

Fisher doesn’t defend anywhere near good enough to let the others take the liberties they currently do.

Cincotta’s efforts might not fill up the fantasy scores, but he’s not getting beaten.

You've earmarked my targets. English (ruck fwd), Greene (HF-Mid), Bailey (fwd-mid).

I too was mad about Langdon as a perfect wingman, but Hollands did well on him, and always expected cottrell to return to seniors after injury, and Acres is made to play as a Finals wing man.

Hollands played close to Langdon and provided heaps of defensive support with elite running: outran Lamgdon.

Sidebottom had Langdon 'spooked' last week. Sememd to be looking over his shoulder for Sidey and Sidey was just too smart for him.

When you ask which forward Fisher will mind, I hear crickets.

That's because Fisher's best work in defense has been as the loose man. Was never going to happen in Finals.

Cincotta played a great game last week. Fantasy Scores don't count the things Chinky does on the field. ROCK

I'm hearing that Dees want to go small.

Tom will be probably retained given it was his first game back and he did kick 5 goals in VFL previous week.
Plus Brown is training but hasn't played for a long time. No form behind him.

I have no doubt Grundy will be selected for insurance. Dees can't go in with just Gawn especially with a broken toe, and Pitto crashing into him and landing on him... :roll:

Pickett, Fritsch Bullen and Petracca will be the other 4 forwards, and all 4 played last week.

Marchbank can play against bigs and smalls, and Kemp can play against smalls and players his size.

Problem we have imo is Weiters looks after lets say Grundy due to size.
Who takes Tom McDonald? Can't be Gov, he's too short. Has to be Kemp or Marchbank.

Petracca? One of Kemp Gov and Marchy have to be thge interceptor, so a close checking Newman seems the right choice for Petracca.
Given Newman has been playing the Doc role, I have compolete faith Chinky can do the job on Petracca....fall on his knee accisently... :roll:

Saad = Pickett
Marchbank = Fritsch
Kemp =Bullen

We have a good mix. I wish we had a genuine KPD (an inform Young or Jones) other than Weiters, but we will be fine. Team defense.

I thought he was non committal on JSOS, and that suffered in comparison to Kennedy where he was very positive.

Finals are about desperation as much as skill, and I don’t think JSOS needs any practice at desperation and commitment.

I think we’ll see both Kennedy and JSOS named. Not sure about sub.

Our backline isn’t tall, only Weitering. If Melbourne went tall everybody would be saying we’re too short in defence.

Not sure about that sinners.

Vossy did point out what is going against SOS in the presser. His lack of preparation given he didnt play last week's praccy game, whereas Kennedy did.
That's what convinced me SOS doesn't get selected.

I'd like SOS to be selected IF fit. Hasn't had a competitive hit out in a game for 8 weeks.

Carlton coach Michael Voss has failed to guarantee Jack Silvagni a spot in tomorrow night’s semi-final against Melbourne despite losing forwards Harry McKay to concussion and Jack Martin to suspension.

Voss said Silvagni had passed a fitness test on Wednesday evening but it didn’t mean he was assured of a spot in the 22.

“He got through (the fitness test), so he is certainly available to play,” Voss said.

“I guess the question we have to ask is if he is ready to come in, without having obviously played a game first?

“We will have to weigh that up as a match committee.”
