Two-fold response. a) They're still a major sponsor b) it was an agreed position between club and sponsor that Visy would play less of a 'visible' sponsorship role.

While the value of their overall sponsorship was once worth around $1 million and a bit per year (for many years) - there was little requirement from the club to work for their money. It was more a donation than a sponsorship...the naming rights were pretty much thrown in.*

Reselling the ground's naming rights and other sponsorship properties that Visy held to other parties opens the door a bit more. It's a bold decision - and a good one. The club probably takes a hit for a couple of years before it has the chance to pay off.

*Naming rights aren't worth as much as some think. e.g - Hisense pay a very cheap rate at Melbourne Park and as for Ikon - they're forking over about $160,000 a year.

There is more money coming from Visy in 2016 then there was in 2015. Strategic move (as outlined) and one you should be happy with. You can't have it both ways. You can't in one breath want the Oligarch control to disappear and then in the next breath criticize them for reducing their sponsorship. The club probably better positioned in that space - but time will tell.

I was not criticizing oligarchs control but I was stating a fact. Given that the 2016 financial statements are not produced and that you are a confessed non member I have serious concerns about the veracity of your statements. .

I think you'll find - and as Colorman recently discovered - if you ask Messrs Trigg or LoGiudice a question - whether in person or via email - you will get a response. While transparency isn't a strong-suit - it's the best it's ever been. And why the member vs non-member angst? Purchasing a Carlton 'membership' gives you a seat and rarely anything more.

Trigg was just on SEN and he said we are pushing 43,000 although the figures on the club website don't reflect this.
SEN had an hour to sign up 100 members and supposedly 101 signed up which means that KB will host a free bbq at Ikon Park in the week before the first game, KB signed up too.
Apprently if you signed up today you get a free cap.
