Backline was a shambles, seen enough of Mcinnes now to know he's not going to make it. Hope it doesn't take another 2 years for them to realise this like Davies and Joseph, Big doubts on Watson he was very ordinary. Jamison and Touhy were down.
Credit where credit is due they are a good superfit side, Buttifant has some work to do.

I don't know whether my apathy to tonight's performance is an extension of my low expectations on this team or a lack of interest in AFL footy altogether.

I reckon I have more fun watching Aberfeldie. It's as close to what I can remember I used to love about footy which is a long way from the bull5hit the afl and their clubs have been dishing up In recent memory.

We should have had them on the ropes in the first quarter, we had every opportunity, particularly in the first 10 minutes, and we had an 8 point lead to show for it.

Pretty much played out exactly how I thought it would........ Disappointing.....

Got on at $2.40

Seriously hate winning on Carlton's losses......... I'm praying for the day I back them to win.

It takes strong genuine leadership and honesty in order for the players to drag themselves up to a higher level.

These are the areas which we are sadly lacking in - and for some time now.

If that doesn't change then this group of players will hover around the comfort zone of mediocrity for eternity.

Get on the expansion sides, they'll give you plenty of joy. Imagine watching the beast "General" Patton and Camo every week, not to mention Green, and Kelly oh and a bloke called Boyd :yikes:

So what changed? Fitness.

Our guys were blowing like whales after the second quarter.

101 disposals and 24 tackles in the first quarter
Finished with 309 and 57
What a drop off
Malthouse has no answer for when teams make a run at us
Should have moved Hendo on to Westoff 5 minutes into the 2nd quarter or even shifted an extra man back to stop their run of goals
We are in for a long long season
9 top 10 draft picks

They are a joke

Play a mid as a sub in future. Big difference between Broadbent in the last.

Ran out of legs. Had the same pre-season time as PTA. They've got the best fitness boss in the league.

Moments from a lot of players but a lot went missing for extended times. Under done players. 1 round only & some committed defence in the 1st quarter needs to be standard we aim for.

Hats off to Port. Good running, some good coaching moves and a good game of footy for 3 quarters.

When you're an average team, the effort it takes to stay in a game is huge. Once you drop off by 10% it gets ugly. Daisy is obviously very underdone. Won't get fit enough until the second half of the year.

Fitness excuse is bullshit. They all train equally as hard as each other.

Losers more like it.

Stop blaming Mick. We had 10 years of pathetic recruiting under Hughes that is now biting us on the ass. Wasting high picks on Russell, Bower, Hampson, Lucas, Watson, Bootsma etc....

Shouldn't hurt. Dumb footballer. Goes in hard...big deal. Shocking skills, shocking decision maker.

We missed Betts and Judd.

Playing two number 1 rucks is not, has not and will never work.

Watson, Bell, Robbo ... all these low footy iq and zero awareness types are killing us all over the park.

Is Yarran fit enough to run as an outside mid? Maclean gets plenty of ball, but rarely has a quality outlet. Could Yarran be it?

Daisy needs another month of football before we see him run out a game.

Maclean was our best player. This says everything about where we are at as a football team.

I'm disappointed, but based on preseason, I was prepared for this result. The first qtr gave me hope I might be wrong about this season.

I'm not sure that'd do it for me either at the minute.

1st qtr summed us up in a way....if Sydney, Hawks or Freo won the contested ball like we did, tackled like we did and applied pressure like we did, they'd have kicked 7 or 8 goals. We kicked 4. Played the qtr of our lives but barely set ourselves up.
