Here, let me top up that half empty glass old man.

There you go.

Better now?

Sleep, old man. Tomorrow will be the same again.

Hey Wook - can you post the half time bit with Swallow interviewing his coach?

Easily the most cringeworthy TV of 2014 to date...

Agree NAB cup games don't count except to see a few newbies and improvement in others - encouraging performances menzel cripps everitt bell cachia Watson buckley
Like the look of Bell played well in final against Swans - got a lot of upside Bell - still developing
Good performance with undermanned side
Isnt it ironic that everyone is happy to trumpet eddies performance in a NAB cup game for Adelaide and lamenting he is gone but are playing down any encouraging performance by our young players
yes Eddie killed an undermanned port defence but why aren't we excited by the smooth moving menzel who could be anything

..I think we are, natural unhindered progression should see menz in our top 3 players in a few seasons, I see him with the most potential not just due to skill set and footy nous but also due to determination and intent..

I've rated him for a long while now.
Totally understand why Bombers were keen on him a couple of years ago when he was still a rookie.

IMO was never a plodder. I could see clearly his attack on the footy and the man and he had pace and stamina...they aren't attributes of a plodder IMO. Each to their own

Best thing to come out of our fist hit out was the form of Watson.
He seems to be reading the flight of the ball much better and not running under everything. If he continues his upward spiral and can cement a key spot down back we look a much better team. Henderson forward taking the best defender leaving Waite on the 2nd or third defender looks appealing.

Rapt with the win.
I had my B-I-L's wedding. Both he and my F-I-L and many of the guests are rabid Kangas fans.
I am convinced both of their speeches would have had made mention of a win and a dig at carlton.
So for me it was worth the 4 points.

We won , no injuries, seniors players missing all good.BUT we still kick the long ball to our fwd line for aturnover result. We still kick straight to opp. This is what makes us not a top side,so how do we change this style?

Correct. Been happening for year and again on Saturday, especially kicking to outnumbered contests. They showed MM after one dreadful kick into the forward line and I am sure he is aware of that. How to fix it the big question. Maybe those that continually do it, play for the Bullies until they sort it. Our designated ball carriers need to be excellent kicks. Sadly Walks, Carazzo, Robbo and dare I say it Judd are not precision kicks. Even Yarran has the yips and should be so much better. May also be related to forward line structures as well in terms of where players are to position themselves. If it is 2 on one then where is our free player?

Interesting interview with Bickley (I think) on the higher handball rates from some teams who have played NAB Challenge matches so far (eg Collingwood had more handballs than kicks). Bickley was referring to Adelaide's ball use vs Port yesterday.

Paraphrasing;

With nearly every team deciding to employ a spare defender these days, when a team has the ball they are handballing to teammates around the contest trying to either set up a free man down forward or kick over the spare defender. Rather than simply win the ball in the midfield and bomb it quickly and directly to where the spare defender has set himself up.

Hopefully it's something the coaching team is looking at, because there didn't seem to be a lot of science behind our use after winning clearances. which is a shame because the performance at the stoppages was outstanding given the relative experience both teams deployed in that area.

What do you mean?

Bell has done everything to give himself more than a fair chance at things this year.
The guy has lost weight, he's running better and harder than ever and he has to coach praising him at every call.

Who has no idea? Malthouse?

You saw the difference when Everitt kicked the ball in front of the leading forward player on the weekend.

Hoping he does not become Carltonised.....

I think he is referring to himself.
