Anyhow,i am expecting Warnock to have a big game.Kruezer and Hampson's tap work has been ordinary this year, hence our poor centre clearance work.Warnock is our best tap ruckman for mine and i am backing him to give Murph,Judd and the others first use of the ball which makes a massive differance. Reckon Curnow with his running power is a good addition and is perfect to go with Gaff. Also backing Aaron Joseph to having his best game of the year by shutting down LeCras. As far as Kennedy and Darling ,pft......they arent travelling that well and i am thinking between Hendo,Jammo, and White there forwards will struggle..........................massive game for Jeffy and Yarran.if we go the longbomb they must be at the drop of the ball.As a matter of fact if all things remain equal i reckon if Jeff and Yarran can jag 3 each,we win.And im backing Jeff and Yarran to have big games.Blues by 11 points.

You reckon Aaron Joseph is going to play on Mark LaCras? Too small to play on him, LaCras is a medium forward who would tear him apart.

Also, FYI, Kennedy is playing unbelievably this season, and with our defence leaking over 100+ points in each of our games, I'm worried about Kennedy grabbing ahold of us. Darling has been sh*t though this season but I'm sure he will play himself back into some form against us

..it's not size, the little frenchman is about 182/183, so he's definitely not a medium fwd.. ..and AJ will be able to follow him fwd and into the middle, where LeCras will spend a lot of his time.. ..the frenchman will most likely be too smart for AJ, but if he's told to be mostly a shutdown type he should stifle lecras [at least]..

Yep the size is OK - AJ just needs to whack his sore arm at every opportunity - leCras didn't want to tackle with it at all last week so it's clearly still pretty sore. Smash him in a few tackles early and then niggle all night.

You're right, what AJ needs to do is whack his arm really hard so Le Cras goes off injured early on, and he needs to do it really obviously against the rules so he gets reported for at least 6 matches (and is off the radar in match selection when he returns).

That is a win-win for the Blues!!!

Trained today. No sign of Murph, Tuohy or Carrots from what I could see.

Boys were pretty sharp I must say. Enthusiasm high and most importantly kicking for goal for the most part was very good.

Means nothing without performing tomorrow so hopefully it translates in to the game.

WOW that is pretty sad.

Brett Ratten's fingerprints all over it. Will never get a senior gig again. Out of his depth. Assistant coach only.
And we had him for almost two years more than Robert Walls who won us a flag and got us into another.
One of the most short sighted and damaging decisions ever made
BTW...MM may be another one of these decisions, but for now, I'm giving him a go
Should have kept Wayne Brittain

Contrast it with Geelong who had 8 players under the age of 23 in their first round win versus the Hawks.

Add Horlin-Smith who is having a blinder tonight, plus another talented batch in that age group that are developing nicely in the twos...

Excellent list management incorporating brilliant drafting and development...

They don't use their first/second rounders on has-beens and hacks in their mid twenties...

If Brett Ratten was out of his depth ... then who are we stuck with now ... Took him 10 years and 2 clubs to win his first premiership ... and 10 years to win his last. MM said he was happy with the list ... please don't start making excuses for him. He talks about defense ... as far as I can see ... we have gone way backwards in that area ... defense at stoppages is horrendous ... particularly when close to goal. We have a boring slow predictable game plan that allows plenty of time for clubs to clog up our forward line which most sides know how to combat (this was so obvious against Geelong) ... and an offense which relies on the ball being bombed in .... Talk about stone age tactics.

I hope we win in the West ... but I don't expect it ... I have far more confidence in Rob Wiley than MM. And certainly Ratten looked a far better coach even with the few seasons he had under his belt. I remember when MM joined Westcoast ... people were amazed because of the mess he had made at the Bullies. Well ... anyway ... lets stick with the MM 10 year plan. If he does it sooner ... I will be a very happy man.

Go Blues ... beat the Weagles ... PLEASE.

BBW you're being a bit harsh on MM. He made finals every year he was at west coast, albeit with a great team. He them took over an absolute rabble and wooden spooners, and made it to a grand final in his 3rd year. In total from 12 years at the pies, he may have only got 1 flag but you're competing against 15 other teams, they're not easy to win. Look at the stats, in 12 seasons he made

4 grand finals. 1/3
6 prelims. 1/2
8 finals campaigns. 2/3

It's an impressive record, coming from the bottom of the ladder

mm... record is not like ratts record.
he wasnt gifted his jobs by his mates
and no matter how long it has taken him to win flags... his ladder placements have been amazing compared to ours over this century.
4 gfs.. 1 flag... and a bunch of prelims.

us???... one eliminational finals win..... oh wowwww!!!

Joseph to Hams; he's the only one short enough to even have a chance of getting low enough, when Hams buckles at the knees before the tackle.

After watching last night's game, the game is certainly more open and quicker this year. This SUITS US and our playing LIST.
We pushed Geelong and Collingwood really hard and I'll say it again, we aren't that far off the top teams. With a bit of luck the numbers could have fallen our way a little more in the 1st 3 rounds.
Having said that, what does concern me currently is our real desire at the ball and man when the game is there to be won and our structures overall. I realise Malthouse is still evaluating some, if not most of our list but is he doing it at the detriment of the team or even club?
I'll state the obvious but this week's game is crucial to our club. I hope we come to play!

This.

Good in theory, but as evidenced by Darling's infamous milked free, you cannot assume they wont get a free just because you tackled correctly

True.

The WCE players have flip top heads, just like those old Oral B ads.
