Already passed last year's total of 43,791.

Approximately 3,000 and 5,000 more than recent years.

6/05/2011 - 40,579
3/5/2010 - 38,420
2/5/2009 - 40,502

Think we'll reach Richmond's 47,000 which includes non-access memberships.

Don't tell that to Caroline Wilson...

Go back another year and it's not that impressive.

This is correct and when you take away the non-ticketted members from all other clubs, we are currently third overall.
Working on last years numbers, Richmond would have just cracked the 40K mark with Essendon* still just under 39K

At the current rate of tracking, only Hawthorn and North Melbourne will have a greater growth (pro rata) to their numbers from the year prior, to ours.
West Coast, Richmond, Essendon* and Sydney have a high percentage of non-access members and if they are skimmed from the top as they were last year, the numbers don't look quite as good.
It will be interesting to see how the AFL handle those numbers this year.
Carlton don't do non-access along with St.Kilda and Melbourne and to some extent, Geelong, Hawthorn and Collingwood.
West Coast, Sydney and Gold Coast had 20% non-access numbers last year with Richmond and Essendon* at 15%

How far behind are we?

Why shouldn't they be counted? They produce revenue don't they?
Collingwood will be producing large numbers of non-access memberships because they can't fit them all in. I would have thought thats a sign of strength. :?

The AFL don't count them. It's not my argument.
Collingwood had only 525 non-access members with a 71,271 official members last year, so that argument doesn't count either.

I agree that revenue is the most important factor through memberships and again Collingwood had a very high pro-rata figure last year.
Off the top of my head I think it was an average of $200.00 per membership as opposed to our $170.00.

No doubt Collingwood do it better than anyone else, with Hawthorn now a close second.
Carlton have some lessons to learn for us to gain ground on those two.

Hawthorn now have an entire state buying memberships - what were they before Tassie and they are most likely the most successful club of the last 40 years with out looking at the numbers

Collingwood play in a Grandfinal on average every 2.67 years you would expect their membership to be high - a big black dog could administer that club and they would still have high numbers

What does that matter Sydney?
You don't think that being the big club that we are, we shouldn't be doing all we can to reel in every potential member?

Collingwood aren't happy with their lot and are announcing that they'll be up to 150K members in 5 years time.
I can't see it unless tricky memberships are involved, but nevertheless they've set their aim.

Hawthorn have 7K Tassie members, so peel them off the top and they're still way in front of us.

I think (read, I know) we can do better and hence should leave no stone unturned.
To date, we have not done this.

Must just not supply the details to the AFL, we sell plenty of non-match day memberships.

Our At Home membership was more popular than anticipated and unfortunately we’ve temporarily run out of At Home membership packs. We expect for additional packs to arrive by the middle of June. We apologise for any inconvenience this matter may cause.
