Brettie, he can do it and must do it if we line up this way. We have other options other than Betts and he needs to accept and learn this as well. It will be interesting to say the least and I want to see how Ratts coaches here. Big day for all.

Huuuuuge day for Ratten. His selections are bold to say the least, let's hope he's got a gameplan to match (which includes a decent 'Plan B' for a change).....

I realise Touhy was dropped last week.... is he now injured? Thought he had been serviceable and now a bit perplexed why he isnt in the team...

The ins this week only remind me of the numerous gaps we still have on our list and in the 22 named week in, week out.

Perhaps not quite roo'esque, but we will get pulverised this saturday

I am not surpised by the Russell out though. I said to a mate at the game on sunday that Jordan has probably been the biggest victim of the inclusions of Duigan & Laidler to our backline. This has resulted in Jordan being surplus to needs back there and required to move upfield. I think he has found it hard to adjust and his output has suffered as a result.

I just think that without knowing what his role is every week has taken its toll on his confidence and he is playing like a bloke without confidence. Which is a shame because we still need more depth in the midfield and i initially thought he could play a role there but he has been disappointing i must say

Reckon you're being a bit tough on JR. He's had an average year, but he has not been 100% physically all year IMO. He showed what he can do last year. Our best backline includes JR for sure, so hopefully a couple of weeks off will do the trick.

Because at this stage of his career he is not worthy of a spot. :yikes: :yikes:

Meh.

There'll be a meltdown if Carlton wins number 17 by just five goals, rather than ten.

Can't see us winning but I CAN see us having a crack. I'd try Watson up front to see if he can mark the footy. Nobody could last week. If he goes forward, he will get Tarrant.

All this talk of tagging two or three players is rubbish. No team has the depth to tag more than one player. Collingwood doesn't even bother to tag in the defensive sense.
Manning up a player is hardly even an option in the midfield these days, it's all about setting up offensively or defensively depending on whether your ruckman is winning the hitouts to advantage.

Jolley will be the key to this game IMO. Warnock may well win the hitout count but Jolley is ten times more mobile and actually takes marks and gets possies around the ground.

Kreuzer needs to carry on his reasonable form in the ruck last week but back it up down forward where he was too easily pushed out of position.

The battle between Garlett and Davis should be interesting. Davis is playing a running HB role like Yarran so if he leaves Jeffy alone and there is a turnover, the race will be on.

If O'Brien goes to Betts, I agree that Betts should play deep. O'Brien will run with the footy 90% of the time so if he starts deep it will negate him to some extent. Betts should stop leading up when he is on a taller player, which is every week.

This is Walker's week. He will probably get Maxwell because Maxwell is too slow for Batts or Garlett. He is also too slow for Walker, who is better in the air. Maxwell likes to play the 'loose' defender so I would play through his man all day. Hopefully it will be Walker.

Cloke is Cloke. Henderson or Bower will go to him. Either will struggle but if it is Bower, he needs to run Cloke around. Cloke tends to be a mark it-kick it player. Setanta ran him into the deck a couple of years ago. Cloke will take his mandatory 9 marks. Hopefully he will be too far out to kick straight. Keefe I know nothing about other than he is very tall and green. Brown is Brown and a problem. Thornton will take him because he is too short for Cloke or Keefe. If Watson plays back, he willprobably go to Keefe, Hendo to Brown and Thornton forward.

What a coach's nightmare. Ratts will earn his money during the game this week.

Bring it on.

I hope the coach tells them about the night 10 years ago when we played the rampaging premiers without Allan, Bradley, Silvagni & Koutoufides. :fight:

So what do you think is the plan KK
Can understand some of the omissions
But Tuohy out
Twomey's form has been ok but not worthy of a promotion
Watson played his best game last week but he has been crap before and it was a forward line nightmare at Sandy with the cross wind .
feel sorry for Austin one game where he was moved around a lot not a lot of help from our midfield not totally disgraced then dropped. Seriously why is he on the list as far as the MC is concerned.

Obviously we have a plan for tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing what it is.

Have to disagree. Has gone backwards this year. Poor decision maker and our defence looks alot better without him. Was he Blair's opponent last time we met the Woods? I do not want him taking the kick ins. He is very predictable and risk averse. Never see him play on despite his pace like Yarran does to break the zone from the kick ins. Would rather see Tuohy in our backline along with Duigan who have both overtaken him IMO. Russell needs to reinvent himself in the midfield but not sure he is creative enough.

Conundrum

JR has probably packed on a little too much size and has impacted his running speed and mobility.

The one thing I liked out of the Bulldogs game was seeing Garlett and Walker having spells in the midfield. Their impact during the times they were put there was immediate. Walker has a massive engine and needs to be taken advantage of, this is being wasted playing solely as a forward, and using Garlett as an outside mid would help get the ball out from stoppages, he's just too quick. Warnock needs to punch the ball CLEAR of stoppages, I mean, look at what Cox or Sandilands do, they punch the ball during hitouts almost to the half forward line sometimes, whereas Warnock and his limp wristed, ill directed palm offs do nobody any favours.

Just get the ball out of congestion and let our superior speed take control of the game.
