I'm sure they will. Even if the club offered Murphy a figure he's be 'happy' with tomorrow, he'd likely hold out, because he can.

I am worried.
Putting off talks until mid-yr makes it easier to fluff around until season end.
Doesn't sound great.

When you're playing as well as Murphy is at the moment you would be crazy to sign now. Let his football do the talking, more than happy to pay him the big bucks if he can back it up on the field.

Hope he stays. I reckon he will win a Brownlow. He polled really well a couple years ago without being outstanding. (So did Gibbs...)
Hopefully, he's just trying to drive up his price.

As a matter of interest, IF he was to go to GWS what sort of compensation would we receive?
From memory Geelong got a mid and end of first round pick for Ablett. Murphy would have to be at least a mid first round surely. Anyone got the formula they use.

I think Murphy would hit the mark for the same compensation as Ablett under the criteria used.

Apparently Hutchy stated that Essendon* are monitering the situation with Murphy closely and are weighing up whether to make a play for him.

I would want Hurley, Watson and the scums first round pick for Murphy.

Would hate to lose Murph.... no issues trading Gibbs if we get a good key position player

If Hutchy actually thought about it prior to opening his trap, he would realise that there is no way Murph will end up at Windy Hill.

There would only be 2 ways he could end up there. The first is to trade for him, in which case it would cost them Hurley and their first round pick (no way would they agree to that), the second is for Murph to put a ridiculous price on his head so that no other team would have the cash, or the inclination to pay as a PSD pick...only problem with that is that there is a team in NSW that will have both, and would give themeslves whiplash in agreeing to whatever terms that Murph put on his head.

Next year he will either be at Carlton or GWS. Does anyone truly think that any top line player is going to go to GWS? I wouldnt have thought so.

I saw Hutchy say that and I believe he just made it up. He's just an insecure fat little kid making up stories to impress people that's grown up into an insecure fat little reporter who's stories fail to impress people.

That's rough on Scully. He's going to be a great player.

Let's not forget that Hutchy got the ball rolling with Murph to GWS talk earlier this year, so it's in his interests to keep the intrigue going. Otherwise it's just another beat up of his that he's got wrong.

His own lackey said last week he thought Murph would be staying. I wouldn't be getting excited at anything that Hutchy says in regards to this one.

Believe it or not I've been finding his dorky little wanker sidekick a little more pathetic than even Hutchy. Not sure why this is...good teacher perhaps?

.

If true that would be a brave play by the scum...
