He was screwed the minute he gave that interview. However innocuous the incident, he's on camera saying he was deliberaly trying to hurt the guy. That's like Buddy saying he shouldn't get weeks for a hip and shoulder that made contract to the head because he wasn't trying to shirt front he was actually trying to break Cousins' neck.

Because of that, the punishment is now completely disproportional to the incident. In fact the incident is irrelevant.

So, for about the third time this season I ask, who is in charge of media management at the club? and why are our players constantly in front of cameras shooting themselves and the club in the foot? How hard is it to tell Judd to give a "no comment" while he gets in the taxi, and we'll put a press release out later saying it was a dumb, but inconsequential act in the heat of final?

Who really thinks that act was worth 3 WEEKS?

The act was dumb, stupid, pathetic all of that but,

3 weeks is a disgrace. No injury to the victim, no reaction form the victim.

What is the game coming to. 1 week would have sufficed. That behaviour should not be in our game but 3 weeks is laughable. And I'm not sooking just because it's Judd .

Maxwell broke someones jaw and got donuts.. How does that work?

Exactly, the whole thing is a load of bullshit.....

Regardless of the dumb act itself or the silly things Judd said to the media, there is no way in hell that is worth 3 weeks, and that's what he got - forget about the guilty plee, 2 week thing - he got 3 weeks!! For touching someone's face innappropriately FFS.... Should have been offered 2 or 1 and he would have pleaded guilty, then it's all over.

You can clear-as-day punch someone in the face and get less than 3 weeks, it's just so stupid. This match review panel is a crock of shit, it does not take into account the particulars of a situation, the only thing it offers is that players clearly know what to expect from it's findings; the worst penalty available.

The fact is he did something stupid, no harm was caused to anyone, nor was there a complaint from the other player and he should have been either reprimanded or given 1 week. The way I see it is that he had no option but to take it to the tribunal and then appeal, because it's just such a stupid penalty for such a nothing event.

Has the world gone mad?? :screwy:

at least some people get it.

man some of the people are so shit scarred of what might happen that they prefer to take two weeks rather than risk three.

bollocks to both.

at most, and i mean at most, its nothing more serious than a wrestling charge. he didnt eye guage, he wasnt attempting to eye guage. is it any different than if judd had a handful of mud and rubbed in riscetlli's face?

dam straight the club appeals, to think buddy can get two weeks for ko's, maxwell four weeks for breaking a jaw, then get off ... and judd get three weeks for a hand in the face that cause not an injury in the slightest, is just laughable.

its a reprimand at most with a fine.

but take the two weeks, we dont want to make them angry

Judd has said that he had no idea there was any talk of an eye gouging incident (already circulating in the media) and the club officals probably were not aware that it was gathering some ground either. Therefore, after coming off the plane in Melbourne on the Sunday morning, as Captain of the club, he innocently gave an interview to the waiting media. Hearing the claim for the first time, he gave a silly answer... Sure, in hindsight he should have said "no comment"

To my knowledge there is no footage of Judd's finger/s actually going into Rischitalliliano's eye/s.

How many weeks then would the Juddster cop if he picked Michaelangelo's nose? Six weeks?

The 3 week penalty is ridiculous.

Franklin cops what? 2-3 weeks for knocking Benny Boy out cold. There's no way in hell that is on the same level as Judd putting his fingers on Donatello's face.

Granted, it looks unsavoury, and we all know deep down he was trying to inflict pain, but surely when held up against Buddy's incident and resultant penalty, it shouldn't result in 3 weeks.

1 week maybe, but not 3, and not even 2 in my view.

I hope the Blues take this fight up all the way if necessary.

We're Carlton, FU*$ the rest.

This is the "best" image I have seen (nicked from another forum) ... it would be easy to throw away a charge of eye gouging based on this pic. But the charge is unnecessary contact to the face.

I reckon the appeal will be dismissed at 5:35pm or we'll be in for a 3-4 hour session and the outcome is anyone's guess.

I reckon they should fight the charge on the basis of their being no "Impact" at all. The original charge states "Low Impact". There was no impact at all.

Definition of impact:

"the striking of one thing against another; forceful contact; collision:"

There was no striking at all on any level, it was a brush of the face with his fingers.
