Hmm i wonder if Fish will get in Garletts way trying to hide behind a post so his opponent can't see him?

Surprised Russell and Armfield (due to his poor disposal in recent weeks) haven't been dropped.
Houlihan and Garlett in, despite not being in the best for the Bullants on the weekend.
Anderson is named an emergency nearly every week. Has been dominating in the Bullants, and was named amongst the best on the weekend. What does this guy have to do to get a game for Carlton?????
Grigg was also amongst the Bullants best on the weekend. Surprised he was also not named.

It's great to speculate, ponder, predict, but let's face it....none of us have access to all the information/data that the MC does, none of us are 100% privy to the inner workings of the club, none of us have spent all week studying the opposition's structure/personnel/gameplan, and most (none?) of us have the football credentials to be on an AFL MC.

Because its so obvious that they are wrong on Jordan Russell
and Joey Anderson
Sometimes its a no brainer

It's not obvious to me at all. It's only your opinion.

Please please play Setanta in one position and leave him there...poor bugger has been thrown from piller to post and looks like he has five things going through his mind every time the ball comes towards him...I think he has a lot to offer if the coach shows some confidence in him and allows him to make the occasional mistake.

good luck big fella.

Thank you carltonac. I don't understand how the hell people seem to be so focussed on Russell being dropped and Armfield's continued selection doesn't seem to get questioned. Russell's continued selection I found astounding, but Armfield, puh-lease. This bloke honestly has absolutely no idea. runs like a cut cat but has no idea what to do with the ball. panicky, fumbley and shocking disposal. what's he still there for? to run fast??? give me a spell.

Wiggins has given us nothing since about round 3. Fish at least deserves a go.

Yarran has been given a taste, but his fitness base and intensity are not at AFL standard at this stage. Has at least shown us some of his potential skill, but have no problem with him making way for Garlett to have another crack... pity Gartlett couldn't get a game though.

Hads I don't know. Don't think he was our worst, but certainly seems to be struggling after looking the goods for the first 2 rounds. I wonder if there is more to it?

Setanta in for Waitey.... Fair enough.

Russell and Armfield both played their worst games of the year last week in a year where they haven't really done anything any other week either. I just don't understand how they keep their place in the side. seriously how bad do they have to be to get dropped?

Had to look twice to make sure that JR wasn't in the OUTs. I was sure that finally his time had come. Absolutely amazing....they must have a grand plan for him or something. Ah well at least his folks get to see him run around every week

Don't mind Garlett getting another shot. Forward line pressure and a goal or 2 will justify his selection. Hoops' kicking skills will be handy, but he just needs to do the hard stuff as well to keep his spot.

We have to assume that Scooter is injured and Grigg is not quite ready (despite 30+ touches in the twos last week) - if not then their ommission is a joke.

Season over if we lose this one.

Footy is a very simple game.

... and I will repeat, Judd, Gibbs and Murphy all had poor games at once last week.

That will not happen again. EVER.

I expect all three to have blinders.

We will smash West Coast.

Russel continues to get a game because he does what he is supposed to each week. He achieves the desired results that the match committee set for him... or so I am led to believe if interviews with the man are anything to go by.

Armfield should be persisted with in my opinion as he has a lot of upside to his game. He is very quick, quite tough for his size and is prepared to run and carry the ball. Sometimes he needs to steady more before disposing of the ball, but that is learnt in match situations not in the VFL. It is only by getting game time in to players like him that they get better. Also, having seen the replays of the last few games several times now, I do not think his disposal is that bad. Against the crows all he really lacked was support. I am pretty sure he will never be a champion of the AFL, but by golly he will make a very handy player for the Carlton footy club over the next few years.

He does the team things, he works hard on and off the ball, trains hard and has improved. Thats why he is in the team.

NEWS FLASH!!!! he is and never going to be a superstar but so what, he will be a good footballer and contributor.

Sick of dumb arse fat armchair supporters ringing SEN bagging the hell out of JR. I bet many of you who ring have are those people who have never played football, never played sport, never played a team sport but think they are experts. NFI

He has improved and has plenty of more improvement to come and is young.

What has Nick Stevens contributed to the team over the last two years??? A senior leader of the club who wanted to captain this club.

ok...I will listen to you if you stop bagging Stevens, who was gallant last week, and in the dark past few years..and has a very sore neck.
I'm quite sure you don't know the size of any of our asses...
Really Jordan, you have got to stop posting on this site..it's getting embarassing..and it's not personal. We are sure you are a loverly person off field.
I will watch you closely..I promise..and try not to swear.I sincerely hope you will be right, and be a team member we can count on consistently.

This part, not so yay.... He hasn't had 100% blinders, but he's been solid, and he's had a heap of blinders in the last 2 years. Down on form at the moment, but crazy to say it's 2 years of nothing.

Yeah but how many years has Stevens got over him?

Well Scottland, Grigg, Johnson and Walker are missing. Add those four to our side and we have plenty to rotate through

Very happy with the selections

We have Warnock, Walker, Carrazzo, Scotland and Grigg to come into this team.....Waite in 2010

A bit top heavy in the backline, but at least they're mobile.

Setanta should play on Lynch. IMO, Setanta can easily be serviceable at FB, CHB, CHF, FP, follower, but not the ruck. He gets lost in the rucking duel...except at boundary throw ins.

Hadley, Russell, Garlett, Yarran, Browne, Armfield, Robinson, Austin and Setanta are all peripheral type players...not bottom 6, just still developing...so whatever choices the MC make with that group I can live with. Yep even Setanta...we can mould him into a position yet. Fisher I'm not in favour for because too slow, but good luck to him. We're too top heavy in the backline and we could easily player Austin, Thornton or Setanta at CHF.

So this week is a chance for some of them to take the chance to string a few games together and step up a level ....even cement a spot for the finals.

I had a dream that Joseph would be played midfield against Kerr. I hope Kerr takes him close to our goals (Joseph = Buchanan)

Fast track, 2 fast teams, and Carlton are going to kick a huge score...WC may too, but we are going to prevail.

Overall happy with the selections....very happy. Plenty of class on every line.

Carlton by 44 points.

We've been that way ever since Ratten took over, Bondi.

Jamison, Thornton, Bower and Waite/Austin all down back. We've basically played 4 talls down back every week. Jamison and Thornton have both done roles on smalls in the past. But is this the right balance going forward?

..looking forward to tomorrow night's game.. ..i think we should beat them (need to make a statement).. ..looking forward to watching Joseph in the guts, interesting to see if he plays as he lines up on paper.. ..we need a defensive mid/role in the guts that's fast, tenacious and willing to sacrifice his own game.. ..doesn't even look like being dropped, been great for us this year considering he's off the rookie list.. ..can see him really getting under Kerr's skin, and minimising his game..

..how i'd line up the team based on MC selections..

FB: Jamo Austin T-Bird
HB: Russell Bower Armfield
C: Stevens Joseph Simmo
HF: Hoops Krooz Gibbs
FF: Garlett Fev Betts
RR: Hammer Judd Murphos

Int: Setantrum Browney Fish Robbo
