The length of this meeting says it ALL!!

We have a board which is inept, ineffectual and moribund!.

Mind you, if they'd made the decision at 6:05 we'd be saying they're rubbish as they rush into things without thinking them through... which was the last board... sometimes you can't win...

Update - 10.06PM - Board still behind closed doors.....

I can confirm that the so called benifactor who has offerred to payout Pagans contract is Fraser Brown on the condition that Mitchell is made coach....If Board agree with this, Diesel Williams, Craig Bradely and Brett Ratten will be his assistants....It appears that the majority of the Board do not want Mitchell as coach other than Sticks and Bear Gleeson...

I believe that the Board will reject this proposal and there may even be a vote of no confidence motion against Sticks and Gleeson. Michael Malouf who has been a staunch supporter of Pagan has sided with Sticks and Gleeson in order to save his own arse....

Stay tuned as still awaiting a statement from GS which I anticipate will endorse the current coach....

You state that they are still behind closed doors..... so unless you have bionic hearing don't know how true your post is. I think we just all wait until they come out and make a statement that is true rather than posting made up innuendo!!

Italian blue understands the situation....

Length of meeting indicates a split board on this issue. Love to be a fly on the wall.

I am going off too work my night shift.

Do we think that Smorgan will be making his announcement before i get home at 7:30 tomorrow morning?

Hope so.

May the best result come out of this frustrating but perhaps (was it) needed situation.....

My post is based on information received prior to tonites meeting however the longer it goes the more I believe that the Board will take the easy option which is to retain Pagan...

For what it is worth I agree with Synbad and this Board must take responsibilty for the way the club is percieved at the moment and they must make hard decisions regardless of the cost......

GS, BM, JV and possibly RN can put the $$$ in to pay out Pagan and they should then engage Robert Walls, David Parkin and Greg Lee to identify and interview prospective coaches and then make a recommendation for this Board to decide on....

Italian Blue was making perfect sense until he mentioned someone who is clearly viewed as a Hawthorn man by many at the club having some sort of say in proceedings.

I reckon that Dennis is less safe the longerthis meeting goes on

If Dennis was completely safe and be retained would have been announced hours ago

fact it has gone this long may mean that hs position is very shakey

It would be interresting 2 know how pagan must feel about all this after it's all said and done. how could he go on? Ah es $$$$$$.... I mean for 1 he has lost most of the senior playing group and 2 most of the board are against him (behind his back that is).

Most well administered clubs these days have used external club people of high standing when appointing sub-committees to make recommendations on coaching appointments.

David Parkin although a self-confessed Hawthorn man (and someone whose philosophy on recruitng young players is outmoded in this day and age) is still well placed in my opinion to offer value in a proper coaching evaluation and recommendation process.

And correct me if I am wrong David Parkin is a Life Member of the Carlton Football Club - as are previous outside premiership coaches such as Ron Barassi.
