Defensively he is the face of the opposition though and runs his guts out. With the ball he isnt much chop and is a bit of a turn over king and sometimes wanna be superstar.

In 2010 -2011 form you would have him every day of the week but he hasnt delivered anything in the last 2 years so it would be very risky paying big bucks to get him in.

Thought Martin is going to GWS. Why is he going to Collingwood now ?

He is going to fix the culture problem at the club.

More importantly than playing footy is to know once he is at the Pies will he join the Rat Pack or the Collingwood player motocycle group the Beaks?

That is what all the media outlets want to know.

on a serious side though - he is a highly skilful player. Gotta respect his skill base.

Wednesday can't come quick enough,
Interesting few days coming up..
Dusty Martin walks out,
Collins for Martin. Straight swap should get it done.....

I am so against getting Martin it's not funny. Without even going into personality and attitude I don't think he is that good a footballer.

BB23 I think players have to have served the required number of years all at one club to be eligible for veterans list. That would exclude Judd and Scotland as veterans for us. Also, hasn't the amount of reduction for veterans been reduced to a $150k reduction for each veteran rather than 50% of their salary?

However, even if all I have said is true Greg Swan is still saying we have room for two players costing what Daisy is costing. So I guess Judds renegotiated drastically reduced contract, maybe Eddie leaving and/or other delistings is expected to free up plenty of cash.

Veterans list has changed. Waite is still under the old system of 50% being excluded.
Scotland would be on the veterans list next year, has completed 10 years with us. Judd isnt.
Under new rules about $112,000 isnt included and clubs can have as many veterans as they want.

I recall Daisy was about as impressive a gut runner and defensive runner as it gets

Yes possibly bog in both 2010 GFs. but maybe the operative word (no pun intended) is 'was'. A year out with ankle ops....I remember Kenny Sheldon going from silky super skilled, best kick at club to battler in a year due to ankle injury, Jimmy Bucks ditto. If we are paying huge money we need to be pretty sure. I hate the way we are always looking for the quick fix. If only we were better at drafting, look at the insiders the Swans got - Josh K and Parker, not outside run, but the inside toughness we need. Why can't we ever be smarter than the other clubs, why is it always the Carlton way to offer ridiculous money and hope for the best. If Daisy is getting say $100k more than Simmo, will Simmo be okay with that or will we end up with another Hamill situation where finally the guys missing out walk for more money. We need more than one good player who has been out for a year. We need to learn to build rather than poach. That's something we haven't been much good at. I am concerned Sticks desperation and poor judgement will push us into foolish expensive deals at it will be the end of the 90s again.

Here's my opinion at it -

Keep List
1 Andrew Walker
2 Troy Menzel
3 Marc Murphy
4 Bryce Gibbs
5 Chris Judd
6 Kade Simpson
7 Dylan Buckley
8 Matthew Kreuzer
9 Kane Lucas
10 Matthew Watson
11 Robert Warnock (because Kruezer is injury prone)
12 Mitch Robinson
14 Brock McLean
18 Tom Temay (one year contract)
21 Joshua Bootsma
23 Lachlan Henderson
25 Luke Mitchell (one more year)
26 Andrew McInnes
27 Dennis Armfield
28 Tom Bell
30 Jarrad Waite (rolling 1-year contracts, incentive based)
32 Nicholas Graham
35 Edward Curnow
38 Jeff Garlett
40 Michael Jamison
41 Levi Casboult
42 Zach Tuohy
43 Simon White (1-year contract)
44 Andrew Carrazzo

Trade (at the right price)
13 Chris Yarran (1st round)
19 Eddie Betts (RFA, get a compo pick?)

Trade
15 Jeremy Laidler
17 Sam Rowe
22 Shaun Hampson
34 Nick Duigan

Delist
16 Andrew Collins
20 Rhys O'Keeffe
24 Pat McCarthy
29 Heath Scotland (retire)
31 Marcus Davies
37 Jaryd Cachia
39 Frazer Dale
45 Aaron Joseph
46 David Ellard

That's 14 players, with Dale Thomas (yes please), Didak? (Don't want btw) possibly coming in as well as at least 3 players in the draft, target a Key Forward and Key Back?

Personally I think we need some quality mids, as we have too many taggers Ellard, Curnow, Joseph, Cachia on our list as well as too many inconsistent small forwards.

Let me know what y'all think.

I dont think we should get too hung up on his ankle. Yes he hurt it once. Only reason he hurt it a second time was because a desperate Collingwood tried to rush him back for the finals. Had they written him off with a month to go instead of getting desperate, we'd all be sitting here saying how refreshed Daisy would be for pre season.

I've not heard of too many career ending ankle injuries.

"Geelong is one of the clubs that draft and just sit and wait and have some patience. I reckon we’re at that point. Carlton hasn’t been used to that before. It’s been a “there’s the best player let’s go out and buy him.” The rules have changed. We’ve gotta draft and we’ve got to embrace the draft – the supporters and the footy club."

Thats the obvious thing.. players leaving .. judd being reduced.. so somehow that automatically means we have alot of space.
But you guys arent privy to the inner workings of our contracting and how theyre arranged.
My info is we get Daisy and from there its a bunch of B n C grade contracts..

Say we wanted for arguments sake Dal Santo... impossible.. and hes a 450/550 k player..

Its not what you think.. and Eddie leaves...D Thomas comes in and thats that.....

if the right deal came along maybeeeeee we can squeeze something.. but this is it...!!!

We dont have a million in the salary cap with Eddie leaving and Judds salary re done..

But Psych.. glad you have Surrey in your corner not mine...
