agree MM had an impressive record before he arrived at Princes Park

So far he hasn't squished a lot out of our playing group, and he may only have the first 10 or 12 rounds of the 2015 season to turn it around

its a brutal caper, coaching

Its laughable how those with such little idea and even little patience set themselves up as knowlegeable, self satisfied , self proclaimed spokesmen for us all.
Next year brings a new opportunity. Mick will show your impatience to be pure folly

Yes, Hinkley knows just how brutal it is. Imagine losing a prelim by 4pts when you had your full list healthy and playing well.... and no guarantees you'll make it that far next year.

So, McKay confirms on SEN that we're rebuilding "from the bottom up".

Horrible judgement from Mick early in his tenure that we were at 11oclock.

Its strange that the board hasn't re-signed Mick for an extended time with the current rebuilding philosophy in mind.

Wonder why... ?

People take too much notice of what coaches say publicly. I'm sure the membership dept (and the players) would have loved him to say "our list is crap and we're not going to be any good for the next 5 years".

Because there is still 1/3 of his tenure to be played out? Lots of water still to pass under the bridge before a decision is made.

It's pretty clear Mick's mandate has changed from "get us a flag while we still have this fantabulous list", to "we rated our list too highly, help us rebuild". If Mick wants to stick around for that rebuild, I say lets give him the opportunity. Despite going backwards on the ladder this year, I believe in the back half of the year we became a better side and I think with a good trade period and cutting off as much dead wood as possible we will begin to push up the ladder again.

I was surprised so many had so much trouble grasping this simple concept when the 11 o'clock comment was made by Mick.

How great would it have been for the senior coach to say, on the eve of the season no less, 'we're no good. Probably 3-4-5 years from being anything approaching good.'

Hows this going to work
A total rebuild with a coach trying to coach for his future

This will end in tears

That is a shit article based on a throwaway line that every footy manager uses when their team's not top four.

"Oh lol yeah we're gonna recruit derps from the derp draft."

Well no shit.

The derision that Mark Robinson copped from the crowd when he appeared on the scoreboard of the MCG on Saturday should be enough to let his employers that his "opinion pieces" are bird cage liner material.

I just scrapped half a post slagging off that article because I didn't think it was worth the pixels...

Some will still take the bait. That's why Robbo still has a job.

There's probably two coaches in the afl....clarkson and roos...that aren't coaching for their future.

We have the greatest coache in vfl / afl history. Most games coached after next yr.

We will have an easy draw. If we can beat the bottom 6 twice and beat tiges and pies a cpl times we will be pushing top 6.

Then the following year we will get a harder draw and be outside the top 8 again. If mick can coach 5 more glorious years he should be around for a rebuild or be gone after next yr
