I would be looking to trade out Warnock, and believe it or not, keep Hampson.

Warnock has great currency at present and with GWS looking for experienced ruck men, he could play a role in getting our hands on a nice young midfielder, or two.

We've got to trade when currency is high, to get what we need this draft period.

Answer "No more money"

im not getting this...didnt judd get a haircut???

it cant be rowe and watson...

something weird is going on with our money budgeting.

The same people are still making these calls ... so we shouldn't be surprised if we are STILL overpaying for an average list.

I find that hard to believe. I am sure there is still some significant room in our cap especially with the players leaving and the reduction in pay for Judd.

Might be why Mick 'can't get his head' around our club, as Synners has suggested.

Are we better off minus Eddie, plus Daisy?

Finally take advantage of FA to get someone in but this largely cancelled out by the loss of one of our best fwds.
Daisy more upside in full flight and helps in area we desperately need but Eddie will still be a loss.
Still, we'd be pissed if the club gave him his asking price - which we have history of.

+1

Sell high, buy low.

Noooooo!!!!
Warnock is in good form - only trade out players who can't get a game!
Our mix is excellent!

This is what the CEO stated in June prior to other clubs interest in Betts. We could add Thomas plus possibly another which I would interpret as about $1 million a year in salary cap room;

Our mix is excellent!

:screwy:

Explain how our mix is excellent. Tick off as you go:

- Dominant ruck duo, one of which can operate as a very serviceable forward?
- Hard running, hard bodied inside mids who actively hunt the ball?
- Tall forwards who lead effectively or create space for other forwards?
- Tall backmen who can spoil and intercept and quell large power forwards?
- Outside mids with endurance?
- Small forwards who consistently kick goals?
- Players with precision skills by foot and hand?
- Anyone who runs both ways?
- Leaders/mongrels/freaks?

Our mix is something...excellent it is not.

I don't think our mix is excellent but i wouldn't be looking at trading a player who performs well consistently in finals. I guess keeping players who can't get a game ahead of those who are performing for us is a good way to go seeing as we have the luxury of having so many of them?

I wouldn't be surprised if we are over paying

The likes of Warnock, Yarran are probably being overpaid. They have unique traits which makes them appealing but they haven't become dominant, consistent players

Dumb club if true

So how do we pay Delaney? With a pack or two of Burger Rings?

Perhaps it's still going to Sticks? The reluctant Pres for a reason, we said we'll pay until our 150th celebrations if you don't go to the Crows.

Relying on a lot of hearsay and gut feeling, and without knowing or having the time to worry about who we get as replacements or how, here's an attempted GONE wish list by guernsey:
Walker - keep
Menzel - keep
Murphy - keep
Gibbs - keep
Judd - one more year
Simpson - keep
Buckley - keep - is he really being turfed already?
Kreuzer - keep
Lucas - one more year tops if we can't trade him
Watson - keep
Warnock - keep
Robinson - one more year if we can't trade him
Yarran - one more year if we can't trade him
McLean - one more year
Laidler - gone unfortunately - is he really incapable of returning to his best or does Malthouse just not like him?
Collins - gone - not as bad as some think, but injured too much to be worth another year
Rowe - one more year - extenuating circumstances
Temay - keep - early days
Betts - keep, although it seems we won't
O'Keeffe - one more year if he can get on the park
Bootsma - keep
Hampson - gone
Henderson - keep
McCarthy - gone
Mitchell - gone
McInnes - keep
Armfield - one more year
Bell - keep
Scotland - gone
Waite - keep
Davies - gone
Graham - keep
Duigan - gone - I don't see any more salad days, much as I'd love to
Curnow - keep, despite his flaws
Cachia - one more year, if only to be a stopgap when Curnow and Carrazzo both go down
Garlett - keep
Dale - gone
Jamison - keep
Casboult - keep
Tuohy - keep
White - gone
Carrazzo - one more year unless it's obvious he's cooked
Joseph - gone
Ellard - gone - shame...great for VFL level but just not physically up to AFL standard

Just my stab at it. Too much? Not enough? Curious to know others' hypothetical gone/keep lists...

still cannot fathom how laidler couldn't get a game this year AND we keep playing McInness - cost us the Essendon* game and showed up badly against swans

What about Shane Savage from Hawthorn? Do the double-up ala Swans and grab on the cheap, Savage and Hallahan.
Not sure if they're just good VFL players and on the same level as D.Ellard, Cachia or Ed Curnow that we already have?
