Remember that West Coast bloke he got over to Collingwood. Chad someone?? Mick has history with this sort of thing.

Morrison.

Craig brought over Jamar, Lyon took Dawson, Roos will get 'Jolls', etc.

Hardly unique.

Chad Morrison and Williams.

The Pies have got plenty wrong over the years . I'd like to know how long guys stay on their list.

Maybe they churn the player list more (as well as identify talent better) , we do seem to hang onto some guys a bit long.

They had some wins Krak, Ball, Jolly, play in premierships .

They also had some guys that did well but didn't get in for a flag, oBree, Clement, Medhurst, Wakelin.

But they had a few busts as well, even this year they had one bust (russell), a bust they have to keep (lynch) and a borderline injured nuffie Bust in Young.

shit reporting - in the same article saying thomas will come to us and then saying we will get a first round pick if betts leaves

does nobody understand the FA compensation rules?

you are compensated on the net outcome of free agency

eg : 1 out - weighted compensation based on age, salary,b&f results etc
1 out - 1 in - no compensation
2 out - 1 in - 1 compensation on average of 2 out

etc etc

So one gun out and an average player in means no compensation? If so it's pretty dumb. Also, if you gain one player this year but lose one next year then you get compo for that player because its a different player?

Relying on a lot of hearsay and gut feeling, and without knowing or having the time to worry about who we get as replacements or how, here's an attempted GONE wish list by guernsey:
Walker - keep
Menzel - keep
Murphy - keep
Gibbs - keep
Judd - one more year
Simpson - keep
Buckley - keep - is he really being turfed already?
Kreuzer - keep
Lucas - one more year tops if we can't trade him
Watson - keep
Warnock - keep
Robinson - one more year if we can't trade him
Yarran - one more year if we can't trade him
McLean - one more year
Laidler - gone unfortunately - is he really incapable of returning to his best or does Malthouse just not like him?
Collins - gone - not as bad as some think, but injured too much to be worth another year
Rowe - one more year - extenuating circumstances
Temay - keep - early days
Betts - keep, although it seems we won't
O'Keeffe - one more year if he can get on the park
Bootsma - keep
Hampson - gone
Henderson - keep
McCarthy - gone
Mitchell - gone
McInnes - keep
Armfield - one more year
Bell - keep
Scotland - gone
Waite - keep
Davies - gone
Graham - keep
Duigan - gone - I don't see any more salad days, much as I'd love to
Curnow - keep, despite his flaws
Cachia - one more year, if only to be a stopgap when Curnow and Carrazzo both go down
Garlett - keep
Dale - gone
Jamison - keep
Casboult - keep
Tuohy - keep
White - gone
Carrazzo - one more year unless it's obvious he's cooked
Joseph - gone
Ellard - gone - shame...great for VFL level but just not physically up to AFL standard

Just my stab at it. Too much? Not enough? Curious to know others' hypothetical gone/keep lists...

you would try and not take the average player in FA - you would try and trade and give up pick 80 odd or something to not affect the compo for the 'gun' you are losing

Don't think Krakouer played in a flag.

The other point from that article - and many others seems to be Betts out allows cap room for Thomas in, however Swann said mid year that we had space to attract a free agent such as Thomas.

I assume at that stage they weren't factoring on Betts leaving so its not as simplistic as one out = one in.

Not that it would be anyway as there are 40 odd other contracts of players that would need to be taken into account......
